Zenith El Primero Stratos Team, A Team Custom-made to Compete

Zenith is getting back into historic rally competitions with Erik Comas as its ambassador behind the wheel of a Lancia Stratos. The star brand, the rally queen and the born driver have linked their destinies in a bold and powerful partnership!

Zenith. A century and a half of innovation and awards in haute horlogerie, and its revolutionary El Primero chronograph, currently the only timepiece able to measure short times to the nearest 10th of a second.

The Lancia Stratos. An extraordinary car, designed with one sole purpose: to compete. After forty years of titles unmatched in the history of motorsports, she is truly the "Rally Queen". 

Both boast a history rich in achievements. While the Zenith El Primero has been worn on some of mankind's greatest adventures and is associated with heroes whose names have passed into legend, the Lancia Stratos has given drivers some of their finest world championship victories, winning titles on all terrains. Visionaries and trailblazers, both have opened up hitherto unexplored domains, sharing this same ability to come up with novel ideas, and daring to take on the craziest challenges – before anyone else!

BOTH HAVE FOUND THEIR CHAMPION IN ERIK COMAS! 
A man whose appetite for challenge rivals theirs. Erik made motor racing a part of his life from a very early age. He holds seven titles including the Formula 3000 International Championship title in 1990, F1 driver from 1991 to 1994 and second place in the Le Mans in 2005; since 2000, he has been earning himself a distinguished place in the historic car competitions and behind the wheel of a Lancia Stratos since 2011. A seasoned veteran, he is one of a number who have managed to successfully tame this extraordinary racing car. 

"The chance to bring this legendary car together with the brand behind an iconic watch as a team bearing their name – El Primero Stratos - was a unique opportunity", stated the man who won the Tour Auto 2013, a mere 40 years after the Lancia Stratos' first major victory on this course in 1973 with Sandro Munari. This trio of enthusiasts, united as the Zenith El Primero Stratos Team, have signed an agreement for the coming season, which runs from April to September 2015. And, naturally, this all-terrain partnership hints at a watch with the same pedigree…
