Strategic delegation led by Tawhid Abdulla – Chairman Dubai Jewellery Group, and Mr. Abdul Salam – Vice Chairman, Malabar Group and Treasurer Dubai Jewellery Group visit to Jaipur marks a milestone in direct collaboration between Dubai's jewellery trade and India's premier color gemstone hub

Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG), the largest trade body for Dubai's gold and jewellery industry, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jewellers Association of Jaipur (JAS) following a high-level delegation visit by the UAE jewellery sector to Jaipur, India during the premium B2B show hosted by Jewellers Association of Jaipur. The MOU marks a significant milestone in the deepening of bilateral trade ties between the UAE and India's thriving gemstone industry, opening new avenues of direct partnership for businesses on both sides.

The visit, led by senior representatives of the Dubai Jewellery Group, brought together leaders from the UAE's jewellery trade and their counterparts in Jaipur — India's internationally recognized center for colored gemstones. The delegation engaged in substantive discussions on shared trade interests, market access, supply chain integration, and the mutual benefits of a formal, long-term association between the two organisations.

A Framework for Mutual Growth

The MOU signed between DJG and JAS establishes a formal framework for collaboration across key areas of the jewellery trade. The agreement is designed to deliver tangible and measurable benefits to both the UAE and Indian jewellery sectors:

  • Direct Access to Source: UAE-based jewellers will be directly connected to Jaipur's coloured gemstone traders, eliminating intermediaries and enabling more competitive pricing, greater transparency, and stronger supplier relationships.
  • Global Market Gateway for Indian Traders: Jaipur's coloured stone traders will gain access to a significantly wider international market through Dubai — the world's Jewellery Destination — enabling them to reach buyers from across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and beyond through one of the globe's most strategic trading hubs.
  • Strengthened UAE–India Trade Corridor: The MOU reinforces the growing trade relationship between the UAE and India — two of the world's most significant jewellery markets — and complements the broader economic partnership between the two nations.

“This MOU is a testament to the Dubai Jewellery Group's commitment to creating real value for our members and for the trade at large. By establishing a direct bridge between UAE jewellers and the world-class coloured gemstone suppliers in Jaipur, we are eliminating additional layers in the supply chain and opening doors that benefit both sides of this relationship. Dubai has always been the jewellery destination of the world — and partnerships like this ensure it remains so.” — Tawhid Abdulla, Chairman -Dubai Jewellery Group Leadership

Connecting Two World-Class Jewellery Ecosystems

Dubai is internationally acclaimed as the City of Gold and the Jewellery Destination of the World, home to over 600 DJG member businesses spanning bullion, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. Its strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and business-friendly environment make it the natural gateway for jewellery trade between East and West.

Jaipur, on the other hand, is globally recognised as one of the foremost centres for coloured gemstone cutting, trading, and craftsmanship. The city's deeply skilled artisan community and vast inventory of precious and semi-precious stones make it an indispensable source for jewellers worldwide. Despite this complementary strength, much of the trade between the two ecosystems has historically been routed through multiple layers of intermediaries — adding cost, time, and opacity to transactions.

The DJG–JAS MOU directly addresses this gap. By institutionalising a framework for direct engagement, the agreement positions both associations — and their respective memberships — to trade with greater efficiency, trust, and mutual benefit.

Looking Ahead

Both associations have committed to activating the MOU through joint initiatives including member introductions, trade delegations, participation in each other's flagship events, and targeted business-matching programmes. DJG will look to integrate this partnership into its broader member services and international engagement strategy.

This collaboration is a further demonstration of the Dubai Jewellery Group's role as a proactive trade body — building bridges, expanding markets, and continuously enhancing the value it delivers to Dubai's jewellery industry and to the City of Gold's enduring global standing.
