Dubai, November 26, 1014 – The winners of Dubai Festival City Mall’s annual signature talent show Kidz Starz were crowned during the weekend to the delight of the hundreds of spectators who flooded the open-air purpose-built venue adjacent to the mall’s Toys R Us court.
13 year-old Taara Shenali Perera from Sri Lanka, 6 year-old Hashwata Sathish from India and 10 year old Ian Cris Tocle from the Philippines won the singing, dancing and music categories respectively, following the decision of the panel of judges who were impressed with the talent of the contestants. 12 year-old Anoushka Gaur from India was also honoured with the Fan’s Choice Award.
A total of 15 finalists competed during the third and final phase of the event following two weekends of auditions and semi-finals during which a total of 40 children from six to 15 performed their acts for a place in the grand finale.
“Congratulations to all the children who participated in this great event regardless of their ranking. Kidz Starz is a family-oriented event and its main aim is to offer a platform where children can express their preferred art form in front of their family and friends. Taking part while having fun is the most important aspect of this event,” said Kris Fade, award winning Virgin Radio host who was on the judging committee.
“The past three weeks have been unbelievable. I am proud to be one of the winners of this great contest especially that I had my friends and family cheering for me every time I performed. I encourage every child who has what it takes to audition next year and experience the thrill of facing thousands of spectators,” said one of the winners.
The three finalists that were crowned as the front-runners were awarded over AED 100,000 in prizes that were generously donated by Thomson’s Music, B360 and Centrepoint.
