Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day With Diverse Cultural and Knowledge Programme

Dubai, UAE, 27 August 2026: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library celebrated Emirati Women’s Day 2026 through a diverse programme of cultural, knowledge-based, and creative activities under the theme We Emerge Stronger and Better. The two-day programme celebrated the contributions of Emirati women and their active role in the country’s development and community building, while highlighting their distinguished presence across various fields.

The programme included a panel discussion titled Emirati Women: Giving and Leadership in Healthcare, which explored the journey of Emirati women in healthcare and their contributions to scientific research and healthcare services, alongside inspiring experiences reflecting their role in community service. Moderated by writer and media personality Dr. Badreyya Al Harmi, the discussion featured Dr. Fatima Youssef, consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dubai Health, and Dr. Sharifa Yateem, Clinical Psychologist and Founder and Director of Sharifa Yateem Centre for Rehabilitation.

During the session, the speakers discussed their professional experiences and expertise in healthcare, psychiatry, and rehabilitation, as well as the challenges and opportunities that have helped strengthen the presence of Emirati female professionals in the healthcare sector. They stressed the importance of investing in knowledge, education, and scientific research, while supporting new generations of Emirati women in continuing the country’s journey of contribution and excellence.

The Library also organised The Creativity of Emirati Women exhibition, featuring a curated selection of works by Emirati female writers and creatives from the Library’s collection. The exhibition included publications covering novels and short stories, poetry and literature, children’s and young adult literature, business and economics, and heritage. The exhibition celebrated Emirati women’s contributions to the literary, cultural, and intellectual landscape, as well as their role in enriching knowledge content and strengthening national identity.

In collaboration with the Ebdaat Craft Cooperative Society, the Handcrafted Creations exhibition showcased a selection of products and works highlighting the talents and creativity of Emirati women. The exhibits combined traditional crafts with contemporary designs, reflecting an appreciation for intricate details, a spirit of innovation, and the preservation of cultural heritage through modern approaches.

Furthermore, an art exhibition was held featuring 16 Emirati female artists. It presented a diverse collection of artworks reflecting the richness of Emirati women’s creative experiences and the diversity of their artistic styles. The exhibition highlighted their active presence in the local visual arts scene and their ability to express Emirati identity and culture through contemporary artistic perspectives.

As part of A World Reads initiative, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library gifted visitors copies of the book UAE pioneers 2014 promoting a culture of reading and enabling the public to discover pioneering national figures and inspiring milestones in the UAE’s journey.

The celebrations also welcomed a female delegation from the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, which toured and explored the cultural and knowledge initiatives presented by the Library for the occasion.

They also reflect the Library’s efforts to provide knowledge and cultural platforms that showcase success stories and inspiring experiences, while strengthening the role of women as essential partners in shaping the future and advancing sustainable development in the UAE.
