Dubai, United Arab Emirates,  June 8, 2014: His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority issued a decree to form an internal  DHA smart government committee.

The committee is chaired by Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Services Sector at the DHA.

Dr Taryam said that the role of the committee is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a smart city so that government organizations in Dubai provide their customers with smart services.

She said the DHA's smart government committee is working on  a comprehensive plan to review all the initiatives used in the various sectors of the DHA and how to best  transform them into smart government  services.
The committee will work out an extensive plan for transforming current services into e-services, they will also conduct a study to understand the financial implications of this project as well as the expenses involved for its upkeep.

“ Of all the various services we will work on converting into the electronic format, an important initiative is the electronic medical record(EMR) project which will ensure every patient in Dubai has an electronic record and that the patient's  file with be available across government or private hospitals. Moreover, the patient will be able to review his file even when he is abroad for a second opinion or incase he needs to visit a doctor during his stay abroad.”

She said the move will enhance efficiency and will lead to improved patient outcomes. “It is a secure mechanism to empower patients and doctors to have easy access to patient information.”

The committee will also study the technical infrastructure of the DHA.

The committee is comprised of Engineer Ali Al Mazoud, Director of Engineering, Mubraka Ibrahim, Director of IT, Dr Haider Ali Yousuf, Director of Funding, Dr Abdulla Ahmed Al Naqbi from the Hospital Services Sector, Dr Muna Al Mazrouei from the clinical support services sector and Sajid Nazir Ahmed from the support services sector and Ahmed Ibrahim Al Omari, Head of e-services and Basma Sultan Al Suwaidi from the hospital support services sector.
