Dubai, April 28, 2014: University of Wollongong in Dubai received a ‘Highly Commended' award in the Training and Education Provider of the Year category at the Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) presented in Dubai recently.

The annual SCATA, launched in 2007, celebrate the Middle East logistics industry's achievements.

“The market opportunity in the Arabian Peninsula, together with the fierce competition to succeed in the lucrative supply chain and transportation sector, means the
Middle East is producing some of the most impressive players in the global logistics industry,” comments Walid Akawi, CEO of ITP Publishing Group.

The SCATA 2014 ceremony included 15 categories in total, covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.

In the Training and Education Provider of the Year, UOWD lost the first place to the Training Team, Dubai Trade FZE.

UOWD was the first university in the UAE to introduce a postgraduate degree program in logistics back in 2007. The program combines the practical and theoretical aspects of logistics and supply chain management to assist managers in increasing business efficiency and advancing their own professional skills.
