Sustainable and contemporary design concepts meet traditional Emirati heritage, students witness
Dubai, UAE; 25 March 2014: The Falconcity of Wonders - Dubai’s premier real estate ongoing mega project that will feature the Wonders of the World, recently received 22 students from the American University in the Emirates (AUE) along with faculty members.
The visiting batch from the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) partook of the two-hour tour that took place from 12 – 2 pm, with the itinerary focusing on the exploration of show villas of the facility along with getting an in-depth understanding of the interior design methodologies, furnishings and fit-outs, all laid out in its traditionally nationalist architectural setting.
An emphasis was also laid on infusing contemporary architectural styles with traditional Emirati heritage, along with endorsing sustainable building concepts as a way forward in the property development industry.
H.E. Salem Al Moosa, Chairman and CEO of Falconcity of Wonders said: “Our continuous collaboration with AUE is a testament in our aim to foster a sustainable future, and going hand-in-hand with local and international universities is a great step towards that end. Our efforts should exemplify to the community at large that we only harvest what we sow, and therefore seek to create maximum learning opportunities for the next wave of industry stalwarts”.
This year’s tour was initiated by Dr. Mamoon Atout, Dean of College of Fine Arts and Design, in response to last year’s visit which was considered very educational and informative for the visiting batch.
Commenting on the trip, Mamoon said: “Our visit to Falconcity of Wonders comes in line with our efforts to enrich our students with the inspirational experience that manifests itself in its superior architectural standards, a great learning endeavor for students looking to achieve practical experience and reinforce their theoretical knowledge. This visit was a success as anticipated, and we look forward to further collaborate with Falconcity of Wonder for their continued support in helping shape and motivate young minds”.
The toured residential villas - Western Residences (South & North) - situated in the falcon wings, were greatly enjoyed by the visiting batch, with plans to continue such scheduled visits on a recurring basis. So far, the Western Residences South, (366 villas) has been delivered and is currently catering to 358 families. The Western Residences North, having 227 new villas, will be handed over to residents in March this year, with the announcement for construction of the Eastern Residences to be announced shortly.
Built in four distinctive styles – New World, Santa Fe, Aegean and Andalusia, the villas in the Eastern and Western Residences are spacious and exquisitely designed, equipped with home automation systems, and available in different size.
