United Arab Emirates, 26 August 2020: More than 10,000 students from various schools across the UAE are expected to participate in the 14th annual edition of the ‘Medical and Science Exhibition (MASE)’, the biggest inter-school medical and science exhibition in the country organized by Gulf Medical University (GMU). This will also be the first fully online edition of MASE, organized in conformity with the safety regulations in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participation is open to students of grades 10, 11 and 12; individuals as well as teams can participate. Competitions will be held in arts, science and combination of arts and science. It includes Projects, Posters and Painting categories, with the number of entries limited to one per student, in each category. However, participants are allowed to submit entries to multiple categories. This year, the event has added new competitions like English and Arabic poetry and music composition.
Elaborating on the objectives of GMU MASE, Prof. Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of GMU said, “Every year, GMU organizes MASE to nurture the scientific and arts talents of students and to imbibe in them scientific thinking, innovation and humanism. Medicine is an arts and science. Art acts as a medium to stimulate scientific thinking and engage the brain, making it an important tool to strengthen the consciousness of future medical and science professionals.”
Entries can be submitted online at: https://gmu.ac.ae/mase/2020/. Posters and pictures can be uploaded as image files. Projects must be uploaded as videos of 2-5 minutes duration, explaining the working principle, its benefits for the society and the inspiration behind it. Participants can also upload their poems and music composition files. Once the entries are approved, they appear on the MASE website, and participants may seek votes for their entries by sharing the link on social media.
Attractive cash prizes await the winners. All participants will be presented gift vouchers redeemable against various services at Thumbay Group entities.
All entries have to be uploaded latest by 30th September 2020. The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges from the UAE, Europe and USA. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on 10th October 2020.
