Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center Concludes Cooperation Agreements with the Scandinavian States

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE:23 /1 /2020: Ibrahim Shawki Gohar, Secretary General of Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Chairman Center met yesterday Sven Otto Littorin, former Minister of Labour in Sweden, and Adviser of the Minister of Labour and Social Development in Saudi Arabia at Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Secretary General briefed the delegate with the goals and responsibilities of Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center; the meeting also discussed the way of reinforcing the cooperation between the sides, to enhance the role of the centre in future, and to develop a mechanism to establish the cooperation between Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Centre and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, so as to enhance the role of Ras Al Khaimah Centre to play an effective international role in the commercial arbitration.
Ibrahim Shawki Gohar, pointed out that the directive of H. E. Mohamed Ali Mosabeh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been clear and explicit to those who are in charge of the Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center, where he underscored the need to take care of resolving all the commercial disputes received in the centre through alternative methods with full transparency and efficiency, so as to reduce the pressure and load of work on the courts.
The centre seeks to promote the commercial arbitration culture in a professional manner, using expertise of the professional and qualified judges, international arbitrators and other competent and experienced professionals. He emphasized that Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center is keen to provide its services under the principles of transparency privacy and confidentiality, to save the business information of companies and establishments.
He pointed out that his meeting with the former Minister of Sweden, came as a result of previous meetings and cooperation between Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, where the parties agreed to develop a Memorandum of Understanding with Ms. Annette Magnusson, Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, with an aim to enhance the cooperation between the two institutions in the issues associated with the commercial arbitration, and to benefit from the Institute experience in the education and training. He noted that there shall be more meetings in future to conclude a number memorandums of understanding with other entities that are associated to arbitration in Sweden.
The Secretary General further noted that there shall be more meetings with the local departments, companies and establishments in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, to encourage them to use the services of Ras Al Khaimah Commercial Reconciliation & Arbitration Center, which provides fast and cost-effective services. He added that the centre offer advanced system for settlement and management of the commercial disputes through arbitration and mediation as well other means of dispute settlement according to the international standards of arbitration and mediation rules.
