UAE, April 4, 2018 - The Department of Economic Development – Ajman (DED-Ajman) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, has successfully conducted a series of inspections on some of the emirate’s large shopping outlets, including the Ajman Coop in Al Rumaila and the Al Safir Mall. The visits were part of DED-Ajman’s commitment towards promoting the protection of consumer rights, especially across the unwarranted increase in prices during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The joint committee conducted the inspections in response to received complaints from consumers about the levying of high prices on certain items across shopping malls and retail outlets in the emirate.
Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Control and Consumer Protection Section, DED-Ajman, said, “The department remains steadfast in its efforts to organize field visits and inspections across Ajman as part of the move to monitor and control prices to protect consumers. This is a strategic priority and key objective of DED-Ajman, complementing our aim to establish a fair consumption and investment environment that supports a stable national economy. We are committed towards continuously monitoring the markets to ensure the prices and safety of products in various retail outlets and shopping centres. The move also aims at ensuring that all economic activities are conducted in accordance with federal and local laws. These field visits are also part of the department's annual management plan and are conducted on a regular basis.”
Commercial fraud and practices can be reported to DED-Ajman through its hotline number 80070 or via email at info@ajmanded.ae
