Dubai, UAE, 05 September 2017: Trans World Educational Experiences (TWEDEX), the region’s only independent provider of tailor-made sports education journeys, has kicked off the 2017/18 academic year with a diverse events programme comprising global and regional tours.
Working closely with schools across the region, TWEDEX creates sports journeys that excite and inspire young minds, provide students with a global-perspective, complement the curriculum, and leave a lasting impact on participants’ future development.
To date, TWEDEX has successfully delivered more than 225 trips for 90 schools across the Middle East, giving over 6500 children and young adults the experience of a lifetime.
Each TWEDEX trip combines professional training with educational elements such as team building and sports education, enabling students to develop their character and enhance their physical and mental skillset through a range of bespoke activities.
All trips are organized in collaboration with some of the world’s most established sporting clubs and institutions from football and basketball to rugby, netball and dance.
Scott Macfarlane, Director at Trans World Educational experiences, said: “Having worked with hundreds of teachers and students across the region, we have witnessed the positive impact that sport education journeys have on students’ physical and mental development. In addition to improving professional skills, our trips foster a culture of independence, and help develop students’ confidence and team spirit. Students across the Middle East are very passionate about their sports, and this year we look forward to building on this passion by developing qualities that extend beyond the sports field and the school gate, giving them a truly global perspective and invaluable skills for the future.”
The new school season for TWEDEX builds on the success of the 2016/17 academic year, which saw a record number of regional school groups travel to leading global sporting destinations.
Dubai’s GEMS Metropole School and GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail visited Madrid earlier this year for an exclusive football tour. The trip saw UAE students visit Real Madrid’s Valdebebas complex and test themselves against Spanish opposition in a series of international challenge matches.
Speaking of the opportunity to practice on the same pitches as football idols Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, student Ahmed from GEMS Metropole School said: “The experience of training with Real Madrid is really great, they are teaching us how to become professional football players and how important manners and respect are in the game”.
Matt Stoutt, Head of year 9 at GEMS Wellington Academy said: “This has been a superb experience for the children. It has provided them with an opportunity to explore a new city in addition also to playing against some fantastic local football teams here. The boys’ social interaction has improved and their behaviour on our tour has been absolutely first class.”
Students from Repton School Dubai also travelled to the UK earlier this year for the school’s first ever netball development tour. The action-packed week included sightseeing activities, challenge matches, a West End show, coaching sessions with Hertfordshire Mavericks and Loughborough Lightening players and a live Superleague Netball match.
“It was a brilliant and a very memorable experience which we really enjoyed. We have learnt a huge amount from the coaching sessions with the professional athletes, as they had so much experience to draw on and this will surely help us develop further. We are already looking forward to experiencing this again, perhaps next year.” Rachel Tuckey.
TWEDEX creates tailor-made experiences for any school or education institution looking to provide their students with educational value through unique bespoke sports journeys, whilst experiencing some of the most breath-taking destinations on the planet.
The Dubai based company’s unrivalled network in the sports world give students access to the greatest events, leading coaching programmes and the most advanced facilities available.
