Abu Dhabi-UAE: 27 July, 2017: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is gearing up to enroll more students in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered across its Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain campuses with the start of the academic year 2017-2018.
Indicating a continuing rise in the demand for quality higher education options in the UAE, ADU witnessed a significant increase in the number of undergraduate students from 3,750 in the academic year 2010-2011 to 5,229 in the 2015-2016 academic year. Moreover, the number of postgraduate students who joined the University grew from 682 in the 2010-2011 academic year, representing 15 percent of the total number enrolled, to 1,872 in the 2015-2016 year, amounting to 26 percent of the total. The 11 percent rise in less than a decade indicates an increasing popularity of postgraduate studies.
His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU’s Executive Board, said: “ADU continues to implement its comprehensive strategy for excellence that applies the highest quality standards across the University’s academic programs and aims to equip its graduates with 21st-century skills they need to contribute to the national development process. ADU’s strategy also focuses on expansion in response to the growing need for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the UAE. The University spares no effort to develop its facilities, enhance its academic offerings in line with job market trends, and increase its capacity to accommodate larger numbers of students looking for world-class higher education without having to travel abroad.”
He added: “The increase in the demand for postgraduate degrees is a tangible indicator of the UAE’s success in building a knowledge-based economy and enhancing competitive capabilities. Higher education institutions play a pioneering role in driving sustainable socio-economic development through equipping their graduates with a complete skill set that enables them to achieve their personal and professional ambitions and empowers them to instill the values of excellence in their fields.”
ADU has more than 12,000 alumni of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds, active in domains such as engineering, science, business management, humanities, and law in vital economic sectors in the UAE and abroad.
With more than 7,000 students from 70 different nationalities enrolled across its three campuses, the University currently offers 44 internationally accredited academic programs, comprising 29 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate programs, at its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Dedicated to postgraduate studies, the upcoming Dubai campus will offer 14 academic programs, including diploma, master’s, and PhD programs, with the start of the academic year 2017-2018.
