Investors and residents set to benefit from new legal measures for enforcing wills in Ras Al Khaimah

Dubai, UAE, December 13, 2016:  For the first time ever, eligible investors and residents in Ras Al Khaimah can enforce their personal wills in accordance with their wishes, protecting their assets and their families as they see fit. 

New agreements by Ras Al Khaimah and the Dubai’s DIFC Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA), allow for direct enforcement of DIFC Courts probate orders covering the wills of non-Muslim residents and investors with assets or family in Ras Al Khaimah. Wills must have been registered with the DIFC Wills and Probate Registry and probate must have been granted by the DIFC Courts. 

Three new co-operation agreements covering economic assets and property have been signed with the Municipality Department of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, the Department of Economic Development, and the Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority. They will allow executors to efficiently distribute the assets to beneficiaries, subject to enforcement orders issued by Courts of Ras Al Khaimah.

DIFC Wills & Probate Registry is an initiative of the Dubai government, now extended to Ras Al Khaimah. WPR gives effect to the freedom provided by UAE Personal Status Law which allows non-Muslims the chance to choose what happens to their assets in a simple, secure and confidential process – enabling them to take care of tomorrow.
