Sunshine Land Pediatric Dentistry Opens at Town Centre Jumeirah with a Psychology-First Approach to Children's Dental Care

Founded by Specialist Pediatric Dentist Dr. Yasmin Kottait, the new clinic at Town Centre Jumeirah has been purpose-built to transform the dental experience for anxious and sensory-sensitive children.
Sunshine Land Pediatric Dentistry has officially opened its doors at Town Centre Jumeirah, Dubai, introducing a psychology-first approach to children's dental care built around one simple principle: children should feel understood, safe and comfortable before treatment even begins.
Founded by Specialist Pediatric Dentist Dr. Yasmin Kottait, Sunshine Land has been purpose-built specifically for children, including those who experience dental anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or require additional support during treatment. Rather than adapting a traditional clinical environment for younger patients, every element of the clinic has been considered through the eyes of a child, from how they experience the space to how treatments are explained and delivered.
At the heart of Sunshine Land are four treatment rooms themed around original characters: Bon-Bon, Katty, Rory and Coco, alongside a dedicated sensory room created to provide a calmer and more adaptable environment for children of determination and those with sensory sensitivities.
The characters are more than a design feature. Each plays a role in helping children understand and remember the four foundations of a healthy mouth: brushing twice a day, flossing daily, attending regular dental visits, and making healthy food choices. By bringing education into stories and characters children can relate to, Sunshine Land aims to make healthy habits easier to understand, remember, and continue at home.
"I built this as a dentist, but I understand it as a mother. I have a toddler and two step-teenagers, so I live the exhaustion of parenthood every day, and I know firsthand how scary dentistry can be for little ones, for parents standing beside them, and especially for families navigating special needs," said Dr. Yasmin Kottait, Founder and Medical Director of Sunshine Land Pediatric Dentistry.
"Kids don't come with a manual, and neither does getting them through a dental visit without tears. We get it. We work on it, and we keep evolving to be the best versions of ourselves, because that's what makes all of this possible for the families who walk through our door."
More Than a Dental Visit
Sunshine Land's approach combines psychology-informed care with a comprehensive range of specialist pediatric dental services under one roof. These include children's dentistry, dentistry for children with special needs, nitrous oxide sedation, airway dentistry, early interceptive orthodontics and braces, myofunctional therapy, tongue-tie release, and dental hypnosis.
The clinic has also invested in technology selected specifically to make treatment gentler and more efficient for children. This includes digital impressions, camera diagnostics, Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) for gentle plaque control, and computer-controlled local anaesthesia delivery designed to minimise the discomfort children often associate with injections.
With more than 20 years of experience, a background in psychology, and an international lecturing presence spanning the UAE, US, UK, Egypt, Oman and Bahrain, Dr. Yasmin has built her career around understanding both the clinical and emotional sides of treating children. Sunshine Land is the third clinic she has built from the ground up.
Her approach extends beyond oral health alone, with a focus on airway health, oral development, behaviour and the habits established during childhood that can influence long-term wellbeing.
