Dubai, UAE, June 21, 2016: Global Village, the region’s leading family destination for cultural entertainment and shopping, held an entertaining and educational activation for more than 200 orphan children at Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Headquarters in Dubai on June 20th.
The activation comes under Global Village’s continuous engagement with the Arab Reading Challenge as well as its diverse range of programs that focus on social engagement. Global Village’s mascot, Globo, partook in the activation; distributing gifts to the children and enjoying story time with them.
The Hakawati’s (story-teller’s) presence at the activation was also of great value as he engaged the children through captivating story telling. The children were overjoyed with the gifts, which comprised not only a collection of toys and but also books and stories to encourage children to read, in line with the Arab Reading Challenge. Globo’s dynamic presence throughout the activation, the entertaining competitions held and the mascot distributing the prizes was another source of joy for the children.
Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Village, said: “We are keen on engaging with the community all year long through a range of programs and activities. We are happy to have brought joy to more than 200 children through our collaboration with Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation. In this activation, we placed special attention on encouraging children to read through hosting the Hakawati, who never fails to captivate children’s attention and pique their interest on reading. We also ensured that our giveaways included a number of diverse books and stories, in keeping with our belief in the importance of reading and our support of the Arab Reading Challenge.”
Global Village will begin celebrating its 21st anniversary on the 1st of November, 2016, and looks forward to welcoming families to another 159-day season of fantastic experiences ending on the 8th of April 2017.
