Highlighting the significant role that reading had played throughout history in bringing knowledge and enlightenment to mankind, the lecture stressed the paramount importance accorded to this activity by Islam that commanded its followers to seek knowledge through all means.
Al Dhaheri pointed out that promoting the reading habit is an urgent priority for any society that favors growth and development as reading helps people to understand other cultures and perspectives in life. Stressing the importance of reading in a child’s holistic development, he urged parents to cultivate a love for reading in the minds of young children and added that encouraging reading is the responsibility of every individual - from family, to school to the community at large.
