Dubai, UAE, 10 November 2015: Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Lexus in the UAE, has unveiled today the all-new 2016 Lexus RX luxury crossover at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show.
The 2016 RX offers advanced redesigned gasoline and hybrid powertrains, sophisticated safety technologies including the new Lexus Safety System+, driver aids, new convenience and technology features that make it the best Lexus sport-utility vehicle ever offered to date.
Visitors of Lexus stand are treated to a completely revamped line-up, as seven out of the 11 cars on display have been introduced this year alone. These include but are not limited to the new Lexus GS-F, the latest performance car from the F range with a race inspired 5.0L 467 HP V8, and the Lexus IS 2.0L turbo producing 241hp, the second car after Lexus NX to feature this outstanding turbo engine.
“Lexus is currently at full speed, introducing some exciting cars that represent the latest design attitude, expressiveness, and performance and I am pleased to announce that we are forecasting a new record year for Lexus in the UAE,” said Chris Buxton, General Manager of Lexus Sales at Al-Futtaim Motors.
The sharper, cooler and smarter fourth generation RX builds on the new design direction and features a redesigned and bold body loaded Lexus-first styling cues, wrapping up a new luxurious interior that reflects an impeccable balance of functionality and lifestyle usability.
The distinct styling is expressed in the signature spindle grille featuring a chrome-plated border and triple L-shape-LED headlamps, as well as redesigned fog lamps. The spindle theme of the front also defines its rear design, providing a high level of aesthetic balance and consistency. Of particular note is the floating-roof effect never seen on a Lexus before, the panoramic moon roof and solid roof rails, in addition to a redesigned Smart Entry System door handles that now come with convenient illumination.
The Lexus RX is available with two engine choices: the RX 350 comes with a 3.5-liter, V-6 petrol engine mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and producing 295 horsepower, while the RX 450h is equipped with a 3.5-liter, V-6 petrol engine and revised hybrid powertrain components producing 308 horsepower.
The RX 450h will be available at the same price as its petrol equivalent, making the car even more attractive to the environmentally conscious customers who do not like to compromise on performance or style.
“Lexus RX has played a vital role in the growth and development of Lexus since it pioneered the luxury crossover segment back in 1998. The brand’s well-earned reputation as a manufacturer of luxury vehicles that redefine conventional thinking has reached a whole new level with the all-new RX,” added Buxton.
As the best-selling model in the brand’s 26-year history with global sales of more than 2.1 million units, the all-new RX represents three out of ten vehicles ever sold by Lexus.
“The new vehicle stays true to the brand’s delivery on precision craftsmanship and superior quality, yet offering a more engaging driving experience, stronger design, and even greater luxury,” added Buxton.
Present at the show also was Matthew Callachor, General Manager, Lexus Planning Division and Lexus Brand Management, Lexus International. “The GCC is a key region for Lexus where we account for around 30% of the luxury market. The Lexus stand visitors can immediately realise that our mission goes beyond the product itself,” said Callachor. “Through some of our brand initiatives that are being showcased at the show we aim to engage with customers in surprising and inspiring ways that go beyond their expectations.”
Lexus showcases its innovative design philosophy, through a UAE first display of the prototypes of Sense-Wear, a collection of sense-oriented garments and accessories created by two UAE-based designers who won this year’s global Lexus Design Award at the Milan Design Week. Other brand initiatives on display include Crafted for Lexus, and Lexus Hoverboard, the latest Amazing in Motion project launched this summer. Like all Lexus designs, the Hoverboard features a balance of craftsmanship, modern materials and technical innovation and has brought science fiction closer to reality.
