UAE, April 28, 2015 - The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) launched the ‘We Are Dubai’ campaign as one of the initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of innovation and creativity in the workplace and developing human resources in Dubai Government. The unveiling took place on the sidelines of UAE Careers 2015, which opened today, (Tuesday, April 28, 2015), under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Key government entities, institutions, academic bodies, and multinational companies based in the UAE attended the latest edition of the leading recruitment, education, and training event for Emiratis.
The new campaign launched by DGHR, which oversees the ‘Dubai Government Unified Platform,’ the largest exhibition pavilion in the career fair, garnered strong interest from decision makers, high-ranking government officials and businessmen. It drew commendations for its strategic role in highlighting the government’s accomplishments and creating the right environment in which to nurture the creativity of local talents. These objectives are aligned with the ‘National Strategy for Innovation’ aimed at making the UAE one of the most innovative countries by 2021.
The ‘Dubai Government Unified Platform,’ which showcases 1,500 job vacancies in 35 government bodies, also received wide interest from visitors. The platform reflects the common vision of DGHR and participating government bodies as well as supports the government’s Emiratisation policy, a strategic priority for UAE Vision 2021.
Amal Mohammed bin Udai, Director General, DGHR, said: “The ‘We Are Dubai’ is relevant in our efforts to recruit and develop our talents who want to join the public sector. The campaign will create new avenues that will propel Dubai among the world’s top countries by 2021. We should follow the example set by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed. The campaign builds nationalism and loyalty, while encouraging innovation, creativity and teamwork among employees in a bid to raise the government’s performance and Dubai’s global competitiveness.”
Bin Udai added: “We at DGHR emphasize the importance of attracting local talents and creating a work environment that encourages innovation, creativity and teamwork to promote excellence in Dubai Government. We are happy with the positive feedback on our platform that attracted high interest from Emirati jobseekers during the first day of UAE Careers 2015. This will pave the way for the entry of more nationals to the public sector where they can make a distinct mark and contribute to Dubai’s development. We hope to attract a huge number of skilled nationals during the career fair.”
The department also launched a series of activities, workshops and interactive events on the sidelines of UAE Careers. A seminar featuring the ‘Competencies Measurement Center’ and its role in capacity building within the Dubai Government was held as well. The center assesses as well as ranks personal, professional and leadership skills of government employees with the aim of improving their competencies in line with the government’s efforts to promote excellence within its ranks.
Other activities included awareness lectures organized by Dubai Ambulance Services Institution to discuss the effects of migraines, diabetes and other health issues such as bleeding and fractures. In addition, Dubai Fire Department presented a detailed account of the Torch Tower fire, while the Dubai Athletic Council showcased its football talents. The ‘Happiness Index’ was also launched to survey the visitors’ happiness levels. The Dubai Culture and Arts Body also participated by holding two events, namely ‘The Painter’ and “The Calligrapher,’ and featuring heritage actors and musicians. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority, for its part, offered two shows under the theme ‘National Qualifications, Your Way to Success’ and ‘The National Competencies Development Strategy,’ while Dubai Customs launched its ‘Faner’ project.
UAE Careers 2015 is an interactive event that provides an ideal opportunity for employers and Emirati jobseekers to directly interact with each other. During last year’s edition of the event, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed simultaneously launched the ‘National Agenda,’ which aims to increase Emiratisation in the private sector by tenfold as a top government priority in the next seven years.
