Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum signs on Memorial Frame of Stamps on First UAE Currency

Dubai, April 22, 2015: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, signed on a memorial frame of stamps issued by Emirates Post Group, during his visit to the Emirates Post Group pavilion at the Water,Electricity Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2015) organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
The EPG stand at WETEX featured stamps on environment, along with other topics, issued over the past few years, in keeping with the event’s focus on environment and sustainability.
Mr. Fahad Al Hosani, Acting CEO of Emirates Post Group, thanked His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his visit to the EPG pavilionand signing the ornamental frame at WETEX, the annual exhibitionthathas emerged as a unique event of its kind in the world.
Referring to the unique stamps on UAE currency and coins, he hailed the move as the result of a fruitful cooperation between UAE Central Bank and Emirates Post Group to commemorate the issuing of UAE’s first currency on May 19, 1973, in denominations of AED 1, 150 fils,AED 2, AED 3 and AED4,along with the First Day Covers on coins (AED 8.50) and currency (AED 19) respectively.
The commemorative stamps areavailable for stamp enthusiasts and philateliststhrough outlets in selected post offices, along withphilately tools and specialized equipment for stamp collectors. The issuing of the stamps on the UAE currency is part of Emirates Post Group’s strategy of commemorating various events and historic occasions of the UAE.
