REPETTO: 24 hours in the wardrobe of a Parisian dancer
Last Update: Monday, March 30, 2015 : 19:12 (+4GMT)
This season the House of Repetto turns the spotlight on a collection inspired by the daily life of a Parisian dancer. Poised between exactitude and femininity, dance and elegance, follow 24 hours in the life of a Repetto dancer.
9.00 am
Discipline and rigour
The fatigue of the previous night’s show leaves barely a trace. Her highly trained body and unrelenting passion provide the necessary energy to go back to work. Just like every day. Ready to go she grabs her big leather bowling bag and heads to the Opéra. On arrival she slips into her warm-up apparel that’s both lightweight and hi-tech, perfectly adapted to the hour and a half training she’s set to embark on… Then it’s through the corridors to the studio to rehearse the
“pas de deux”. Her gracious silhouette outlined in a leotard and long chiffon skirt.
2.00 pm
Time for elegance
With rehearsals over she changes back into urban attire, a structured skirt in ottoman and delicate openwork knit gilet, swapping her pointe shoes for a pair of pumps, she seizes her handbag and steps out into the streets of Paris with ethereal grace.
She meets her friends on a café terrace for a rare moment of respite. The clock hands move fast and soon it’s time to return to the Opéra for one last rehearsal.
6.00 pm
Mastery and excellence
In her dressing room, alone in front of her mirror, she prepares to become someone else, to live out her passion on stage. She does her hair and make-up, ties the ribbons on her pointe shoes, straightens and adjusts her tutu. She is ready.
The performance and magic can commence.
11.00 pm
Passion
It’s late, the show comes to an end but the lights of Paris still twinkle. She emerges from her dressing room. Sublime in her simplicity. A tailored dress,
a pair of iridescent pumps and a structured handbag compose her silhouette, instantly recognisable amidst the crowds. The night belongs to her.
