Ahmed Al Ameri claims UAE drifting king title for third time

Al-Futtaim Motors’ Toyota Emirates Drifting Team crowns championship winning season with another first place finish 

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 30th, 2015 – Al-Futtaim Motors’ Toyota Emirates Drifting Team’s current champion, Ahmed Al Ameri, celebrated his position as the UAE’s Drift King for the third time, by placing first in the final round of the UAE Drift 2014/2015 season, held at the Yas Marina Circuit on March 28, 2015. Al Ameri’s final points total after four rounds was 126 points, a staggering 36 points ahead of his nearest competitor.

Celebrating his success at the final round, Ahmed Al Ameri said: “The competition was not easy, drifting alongside such enthusiastic and talented drivers was one of the greatest challenges we faced throughout this season. With the great support of Al-Futtaim Motors and the fantastic Toyota 86 we pulled it off once again. Staying at the forefront of this sport has been our motto since the start of the season, allowing us to secure the title at the end of round 3, and maintaining this momentum to finish first in the fourth and final round.”

The Toyota Emirates Drifting Team also led the Team Ranking leader board, amassing a total of 126 points thanks to Al Ameri’s contribution. Al Ameri became the first driver to win back-to-back Drift UAE Championships, and the first driver to win three titles in the competition, securing titles in the 2011/2012, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 seasons. The Toyota Emirates Drifting Team is the UAE’s most accomplished drifting team and the first to get the official support of a local automotive distributor in the form of Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE.

The Toyota Emirates Drift Team is one of two motorsports ventures that Al-Futtaim Motors is currently active in, a testament to the company’s increased involvement in motorsports in the UAE, the second being the TRD 86 Cup, the country’s first single make championship launched in December of this year hot on the heels of TRD’s introduction to the UAE.
