Green Living Landscaping Projects Transforming Quality of Life for UAE Residents

Landscape 2020 Conference to Bring Together Municipalities, Developers and Architects to Showcase Innovation in Outdoor Design

Dubai, UAE: Green living landscaping projects in the UAE are transforming communities, improving quality of life and delivering sustainable development, industry experts announced ahead of the ground-breaking Landscape 2020 conference next month.
Running alongside the Outdoor Design & Build Show, Landscape 2020 is a series of briefing days bringing together local and international leaders in outdoor design and urban development, providing the only platform in the region to showcase the most innovative urban projects from concept through to completion.

Projects showcased include Al Barari’s unique, eco-friendly residential community in Dubai, which incorporates a series of residences integrated with themed gardens and lush botanic surrounds. The combination of the natural shade canopy produced by planting, the abundance of waterways, and designs intended to control windflow have created a microclimate within the Al Barari development that can be 3-5 degrees Celsius below that of surrounding areas.

“In Dubai’s climate, it is important to have plenty of green space which reduces heat buildup and breaks up reflected heat from hard surfaces such as villas and pavements to produce a cooling effect within the community,” said Kamelia Bin Zaal, Creative Director at Al Barari. “Through the shade they offer, trees can buffer homes from extreme heat and reduce energy consumption and air-conditioning costs.”

Green developments can also help to improve air quality, with a single tree being capable of wiping out 26 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year, the equivalent of 11,000 miles of car emissions.

“Historically Bedouins have always understood the importance of the oasis as they were fundamental to our survival so it is only natural that culturally we have a high regard and understanding for the abundance a garden can provide,” Bin Zaal said. “Greenery and landscaping has always been a focus for the nation.”
Diamond Developers will provide an overview of its Sustainable City project – the first community of its kind in the region.

Landscape 2020 will run alongside the Outdoor Design and Build Show 2015, the annual B2B tradeshow focusing purely on design and build for all public and private spaces, which is taking place in Dubai on 13th – 15th April 2015.
