Dubai Municipality Bestows His Excellency Salem Almoosa with Top Honor at 11th Heritage Competition Ceremony

• His latest initiative is aimed at preserving and protecting the national heritage as part of the UAE Vision 2021 initiative.
• The event gathered over 700 submissions of which 33 winners were chosen as winners.
• The 33 winners were awarded with Certificates of Appreciation and prizes for their creative submissions.
Dubai, March 15th 2015: The 11th Heritage Competition Ceremony organized by Dubai Municipality in collaboration with the Department of Student Activities and Scientific Competition at the Ministry of Education awarded H.E. Salem Almoosa-Chairman of Salem Ahmad Almoosa Enterprises for his efforts in supporting and conserving the indigenous Emirati heritage and his continued cooperation in passing the legacy to the next generation. The award was presented by Rashad M. Bukhash, Director of Architectural Heritage Dept. Dubai Municipality and Chairman of Architectural Heritage Society, UAE.
H.E. Salem Almoosa greeted the students with a speech and shared his expertise and experience in bringing UAE’s heritage to the fore and supporting it through the use of latest technologies. H.E. Salem Almoosa also highlighted that all initiatives and aims should be directed at preserving and protecting the national heritage as part of the UAE Vision 2021. Since date, his tireless efforts in maintaining the upkeep of historical buildings, preserving the country’s national identity and raising the awareness of heritage in today’s modern society has been a significant contribution in defining and reviving UAE’s rich cultural heritage.
Commenting at the Heritage Competition Ceremony, H.E. Salem Almoosa said, “It is my pleasure to associate with such events that instill values in youngsters to strengthen the concept of safeguarding our cultural values and heritage. I am extremely delighted to see the artistic revelations by these young students that indicate their passion and devotion in preserving our heritage. Protecting heritage is a voluntary task and all the citizens of UAE, including the young and the old should be mobilized to serve that goal. Our heritage is the source of our strength and provides historic evidence of the ancient past; hence it is extremely important that we retain it for the future generations to come.”
The Heritage Competition is an annual event and aims at engaging students from schools and universities to share their creative ideas and thoughts about the heritage of Dubai. The year 2013-2014 theme focused on Dubai Creek and its importance throughout the history of Dubai. It involved its focus on Dubai as a main trade port in the past and its continuation and progress till today.
Taking inspiration from the above, students portrayed their understanding through drawings, photographs, physical models, video’s, research and articles. The event gathered over 700 submissions of which 33 winners were chosen through a judging committee from the Ministry of Education, Dubai Municipality and Fine Art institutions. In addition, dancing and poetry performances by students were organized as part of the mission to promote the UAE rich heritage, culture and national identity. The 33 winners were awarded with Certificates of Appreciation and prizes for their creative submissions.
