Ajman Municipality Experience with Project Management & Social Media Presented by Ajman University in USA

The Project Management Office in Ajman University of Science and Technology presented a specialized paper describing the experience of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department in project management during an international conference held in the United States, state of Phoenix Arizona, Project Management Institute Global Congress of North America.
Eng. Tariq Al Haraki, the Business Development Manager at the project management office at the University of Ajman, has provided a detailed explanation about the experience of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, through a special paper presenting detailed methods of their dealings with the public in coordination with the PMO showing their social media practices through its website and smart service accounts for customer service, and the application of best practices, where this became as a translation of the permanent joint cooperation and coordination between Ajman University and Ajman municipality and Planning Department.
The participation of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and Ajman University was within a delegation representing the United Arab Emirates at the North America Forum.
The experience of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and its dealings with the public was admired by the attendants especially those linked to impressive ways to monitor opinions and ideas that serve executing the project through social networking sites and institutional channels of communication and suggestions system via its website WWW.AM.GOV.AE
Yahya Ibrahim Ahmed, Director General of the Department, considered that Ajman Municipality and planning successful experiences were completed by the existence of strategic partners, praising the fruitful cooperation with Ajman University in this area as a strategic partner in all activities carried out by and for the emirate public service, including the implemented projects that serve all customers. Stressing the concern of the leadership council, headed by His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of the Department to cooperate with everyone in serving the emirate, from the concern of the department to promote the culture of mutual cooperation and expose the successful experiences and constructive ideas by holding numerous and open meetings, and to respond to the public and to promote cooperation with customers from inside and outside the department and across local, regional and international participations.
From his side, Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, Director of Project Management office in the department pointed out that the office task is to identify and choose projects based on the priorities of the department, as well as the overall supervision on the department projects and coordination between all competent authorities in the project and ensure the quality of projects axioms and achieve the partners expectations and supporting organizational units in the project management according to the requirements of the cognitive guide of projects management (PMBOK), Ajman Award for projects, initiatives and guide of distinguished government service, dissemination of project management culture, marketing and submitting periodic reports and recommend the senior management on the progress of the department projects. He also expressed his thanks to Ajman University for their cooperation with the department.
The submitted paper by the Eng .Tariq Al Haraki at the conference discussed how to deal with the public during the planning and implementation of projects using social media, by highlighting the positive and successful experience of the United Arab Emirates and Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.
The submitted paper was a joint effort between the University of Ajman represented by Eng. Tariq Al Haraki, and Ms. Zainab Maki, from the same university, in coordination and cooperation with the Project Management Office in Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, headed by Marwan Al Muhairi, Director of the Project Management Office in the department.
It is worth mentioning that the Municipality and Planning Department experience will be exposed in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the coming period, to be a series of regional and international meetings to view this typical experiment.
