Dubai, January 15, 2014: Emirates Post Group has started distributing customised boxes for the ‘Watheq’ campaign launched by the National Archives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The first boxes were handed over to CEOs of EPG by Mr. Fahad Al Hosani, Acting President of the Group.
The Watheq initiative empowers people to create their personal archives and preserve historical documents, records, artifacts and other precious possessions that are a pivotal reservoir of information about life within UAE society. Watheq represents a national collaboration in which the entire society takes collective responsibility for preserving the memories of its homeland.
In this context, Mr. Fahad Al Hosni highlighted the role of Emirates Post Group in the distribution of the customized boxes through a network of 120 post offices spread across the country in residential neighborhoods and commercial centers. He hailed Watheq as a major national initiative that will further enhance loyalty and patriotism among the people of the UAE.
250,000 boxes will be distributed in successive phases. The boxes are designed according to the highest international standards in archiving. They are easy to open and close, storage-friendly and resistant to moisture and other external factors. Historical letters, photos, videos, memoranda, newspapers, books, marriage certificates, birth certificates and any other historical documentation can be stored in these boxes.
