HE Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, Director General of DHA endorses ‘My Health My Pledge' initiative

Aster DM Healthcare’s programme, aimed at promoting healthy living across communities and geographies, has received more than 100,000 pledges from people including prominent citizens and celebrities

DUBAI, December 16, 2014: His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), has taken his pledge as part of Aster DM Healthcare’s community wellness initiative ‘My Health My Pledge’. Aster DM Healthcare, a healthcare provider in the Middle East, rolled out the global health awareness programme, aimed at promoting healthy living and wellness, recently. 

His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, said, “I am happy to be part of “My Health My Pledge” initiative, which focuses on promoting good health in the society. I appreciate Aster DM Healthcare for launching such an initiative. Small changes in our lifestyle can go a long way for us in remaining healthy. I sincerely hope that a large number of people would take the pledge from the UAE as well as the region. I wish all the success to the programme. My pledge is to live healthily by eating right, exercising actively, sleeping appropriately, de-stressing by ensuring proper rest, and keeping the mind active by learning and seeking knowledge. I believe that my following these five routes, we will be able to lead a more satisfying and a better quality of life. Our health is our wealth and it is very important that we take proactive rather than reactive measures for a more positive tomorrow for ourselves and our city” 

Through the campaign, Aster DM Healthcare urges the public to take the pledge as the first step towards better health. The ‘My Health My Pledge’ campaign has already recorded pledges from over 100,000 people from around the world. The initiative is expected to set a new World Record for the maximum number of health pledges taken by the public.

Commenting on the programme, Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “We are honoured to have His Excellency Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor making his pledge as part of this health awareness programme. The campaign encourages people to make a promise with a small pledge towards a healthier lifestyle which will go a long way in safeguarding their health if they develop it into an ongoing habit. We want people to take ownership of their own wellbeing through these official pledges where they announce their intention to work towards this actively by inculcating this into their routine life. Together, let us take a giant leap towards creating a more aware, conscious and healthier community.” 

Elaborating on the programme, Dr. Moopen said, “The response to this initiative has been overwhelming, to say the least. Thousands of individuals have already pledged to make minor changes in their existing lifestyle that should mark small positive strides towards their better health. This campaign promotes the advantages of healthy living, educating people on following activities such as walking more, sleeping early and waking up early, which are generally ignored. One can give up a bad habit or get involved in any activity of one’s passion. Such small activities followed by regular exercises and healthy food intake can bring about a positive change,” he added.
