Abu Dhabi, 1 December 2014: In the spirit of the 43rd National Day celebrations, The International Defence Exhibition and Conferences (IDEX) today proudly announced the 100% sale of exhibition space at IDEX 2015. The success of IDEX can also be attributed to its contribution to the national economy - especially given the role it plays in attracting global investors in exhibitions and conferences industry to the UAE. The defence sector is one of the key pillars of Abu Dhabi's Economic Vision 2030 and IDEX is the ideal platform that provides an opportunity to showcase the growing capabilities of the defence and security industry.

Saleh Al Marzooqi, IDEX Chief Executive Officer said “We are overwhelmed by the response IDEX 2015 has already received from our partners and exhibitors. A platform like IDEX is a unique opportunity for the industry leaders to showcase and highlight the innovations and technologies that put Abu Dhabi on the forefront of the defence industry.”

Over two decades since its inception, IDEX has expanded enormously and introduced both NAVDEX (the region's largest maritime defence exhibition) and UMEX (Unmanned Systems Exhibition), to take place alongside the core IDEX exhibition. This collective offering is genuinely unique and creates a compelling biennial event drawing the world's entire defence industry to the UAE capital.

In the first hour of opening the online registration website, IDEX 2015 received over 700 requests from industry professionals across the world interested, which is a sign of the strong position IDEX is enjoying among the major international exhibitions.

The total naval defence spending in the Gulf and western Indian Ocean is likely to reach US$76.4 billion (Dh280.6bn) between 2010 and 2019. Driving growth in the naval defence sector, NAVDEX provides a dedicated platform focus on maritime security bring together the latest innovations and technology to the forefront.

UMEX on the other hand provides a professional platform for manufacturers to meet operators and establish lucrative business relationships while promoting the ecological, environmental, civil and humanitarian benefits of unmanned systems.

IDEX, in January 2014 announced that it was experiencing the highest level of demand from industry for exhibition space in the event's two decade history. Over 90 per cent of available exhibition space was reserved by exhibitors a year in advance for the 2015 edition which will take place on February 22nd – 26th.
