Emaar celebrates Dubai's successful bid to host World Expo 2020 with spectacular fireworks

Dubai, UAE; November 27, 2013: Emaar Properties PJSC marked the country's triumphant World Expo 2020 bid with a spectacular fireworks display in Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa.

The fireworks display at Burj Khalifa was resplendent in blue and white - the colours that were highlighted across Dubai's campaign to host the World Expo 2020. In an astonishing illumination, the tower will continue to beam the colours on its façade through the UAE National Day on December 2.

Winning the bid to host Expo 2020 has secured Dubai's place in history as the first country in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region to be chosen as the host city of the World Expo. Dubai Expo 2020 will focus on ‘Sustainability,' ‘Mobility,' and ‘Oppportunity,' which have been identified as the key enablers of global development.

Billed to welcome more than 25 million visitors over six months, the Dubai World Expo 2020, on the theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,' will be held at Dubai Trade Centre – Jebel Ali, a new 438-hectare site located equidistant from the centre of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The newly designed and constructed venue, located close to Al Maktoum International Airport and Jebel Ali Port, will provide logistical advantages for both exhibitors and visitors. Dubai will further extend its world-class infrastructure, such as Dubai Metro and other public transport links, to serve the site. This will complement the Emirate's unparalleled connectivity to the world through two international airports and a seaport, as well as driving the growth of the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors.
