The UAE's first online T-shirt store that promotes and sells wearable art that reflect scenes from the UAE
Dubai, UAE, 06 November 2013 – Arcadian Apparel, the UAE's first online T-shirt website that promotes and sells wearable art, has launched at an event held last night (05 November) at the Empty Quarter Art Gallery in DIFC, Dubai, among a crowd of art and fashion enthusiasts.
The T-shirts reflect moods, characters, messages, inspirations, and graphics from everyday experiences across the UAE. They appeal to both Emiratis and expats, who equally form part of the UAE's heritage and future, and the designs unite aesthetic history with the modern art scene. Inspired by Emirati culture, they offer the UAE a unique fashion line with which everyone can identify.
Commenting on the launch of the new brand, Peter Davos, Co-founder of Arcadian Apparel, said: “I have always had a tremendous love and respect for my adopted country and wanted to create a way I could express my pride in being here. We needed to get past all the imported labels and come up with a local brand that captured the essence of the energy, dynamism, and excitement in living in the world's most exciting city. I love it here and was driven by the need to find a creative outlet for my passion for this country. That's why I started Arcadian Apparel."
Arcadian Apparel currently offers two modern style collections: ‘EmiraTee' and ‘Dubai Til I Die'. The two collections are designed by a team of local artists that capture the true essence of art in the UAE and showcase everyday happenings in a creative manner. The brand also allows artists to design their own signature art which can be printed and sold on the online store. Artists can submit their own designs to the Arcadian Apparel team and, if approved, they will be sent for print and available for sale on the company website. The artist's name will also be signed on the shirt. Designs for submission can be forwarded to info@arcadianapparel.com.
"When I would go back to the US, people would ask me how I liked Dubai and I would respond by saying 'Dubai Til I Die!' After a few friends of mine suggested that I trademark the phrase - which I did - I thought I was onto something cool that could work. That is how this whole thing started," added Peter. "I approached my Emirati
friend, Salem Al-Qubaisi, who is essentially my brother, and asked if he could help with the creative direction of the EmiraTee line and he was totally enthusiastic about it. That's when I knew we had the beginnings of something big. There are fantastic artists in the UAE, both local and expats, and we want every talent, new idea, concept, and inspiration to come alive on our T-shirts. Our vision is to share the beauty of art and pair this with fashion as we attempt to support Dubai Fashion 2020.”
The fabric used for Arcadian T-shirts is 100% high-end quality cotton, making them extremely soft and durable. The T-shirts are printed using water-based silkscreen printing, which is environmentally friendly, and produced in sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL. A new collection of 25-30 designs will be released each season and prices will range from AED150-AED250 per shirt, which includes shipping.
Arcadian Apparel T-shirts are available from www.arcadianapparel.com and are delivered via courier within 48 hours from purchase.
