23 Initiatives and 3,000 Volunteer Hours Delivered by Dubai Customs Employees
Dubai – 09 December 2024: Dubai Customs has reported an impressive milestone in its volunteer efforts, positively impacting more than 90,000 individuals in the first nine months of this year. The organization implemented 23 diverse community-focused initiatives, with 669 employees contributing over 3,000 hours of volunteer work. This achievement reflects the strategic vision of Dubai Customs’ leadership to cultivate a culture of giving, foster community connections, and encourage employees to embrace volunteering as a key driver for building a brighter, more collaborative future.
These numbers underscore Dubai Customs’ commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive volunteer programs that benefit all segments of society. The initiatives align with the UAE Vision 2071 for sustainable development and Dubai’s D33 Social Agenda, which aim to enhance quality of life and build a happy, united community.
Khalil Saqr bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communications at Dubai Customs, said:
"Volunteering is a fundamental pillar of our mission. At Dubai Customs, we have established a comprehensive framework for volunteer work, inspired by global best practices, to promote social solidarity and sustainable development. These initiatives not only provide vital support to vulnerable groups but also foster a sense of belonging and responsibility among our volunteers. This work is made possible through our strong partnerships with strategic allies and accredited charitable organizations across the UAE."
He further highlighted the deep social value of volunteering, noting its significant positive impact on the community. "Volunteerism motivates government entities, private organizations, and individuals to contribute resources and support, expanding its reach and amplifying its benefits across the UAE. In our growing volunteer sector, these efforts are now central to strengthening social solidarity and fostering unity. Guided by our leadership’s vision, Dubai Customs has successfully launched 23 volunteer initiatives this year, targeting diverse segments of society through health, environmental, charitable, and community-focused programs."
Fouad Al Shehhi, Head of the Ghayyath Volunteer Team at Dubai Customs, also shared his perspective:
"Volunteering at Dubai Customs has created new opportunities for employees to engage in meaningful community work and make a tangible impact. These initiatives not only promote a culture of giving but also build team spirit and instill a sense of pride and satisfaction among employees as they contribute to projects that strengthen social bonds and support those in need."
Al Shehhi pointed out the variety of initiatives led by the Ghayyath team, ranging from health and awareness campaigns for employees, senior citizens, and people of determination, to community efforts such as distributing Iftar meals and Ramadan food packages. The team has also played a key role in emergency response efforts and supported official committees within the emirate.
For Dubai Customs, volunteerism goes beyond acts of service—it is a vital part of building a compassionate, resilient society and supporting a united, thriving UAE.
