Flight Delayed? Things To Do at Dubai and Other Airports
Last Update: Monday, July 3, 2023 : 17:45 (+4GMT)
Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, offers a wide variety of activities for travelers in transit. There are many private places at Dubai International Airport that you can access for a fee.
By checking into a posh lounge, where comfortable seats, a wide selection of food and beverages, and warm hospitality are all standard, you can avoid ordering takeaway sandwiches and attempting to get comfortable on a plastic chair.
There are many things to do at the airport, including fine dining establishments, duty-free shopping, and kid-friendly play areas. Here is a list of all the things you can do if you're considering how to pass the time during a layover.
Unwind in the airport lounge
Even if you don't fly First Class, make the most of your layover by acting like one! Any traveler can visit many airport lounges in this country, regardless of the airline or service class flown.
The free food and drinks, more comfortable surroundings, and reasonable Wi-Fi speeds—some even offer shower facilities—might make the admittance cost worthwhile. Using the free Wi-Fi at the airport, staying in touch with friends and family, updating your social media profiles, or browsing the internet. Pay-to-use internet kiosks are provided for people without smartphones or computers.
Internet security requires using a Virtual Private Network when joining public Wi-Fi. It prevents anyone from snooping on your activities and stealing data. Thus, enabling a VPN should be a habit when joining an unknown public hotspot.
More on Ahlan Business Class
The Ahlan Business Class lounge is an excellent option for people who want their Business Class experience to begin before they ever board a plane. Inside the lounge, travelers who enjoy traveling in class can expect all the benefits of Business Class travel.
Depending on where your aircraft is leaving from, there are several Marhaba Lounges to choose from across DXB. The Marhaba Lounge in Terminal 1 is an excellent location to unwind before taking off.
Sleep 'n Fly has an air of being small but formidable. Even though the rooms are small—three square meters—they come with a single or double bed so you can get some rest before taking off, among other amenities.
Shop for souvenirs
With several Duty-Free locations and a wide variety of international stores, you are in for a lovely time when shopping at Dubai Airport. Pick up locally produced goods like dry fruits or chocolate; they make wonderful gifts for friends or simply a delicious snack for yourself. Visit Tiffany & Co. at T1 for some excellent jewelry, ceramics, and silver. Additionally, there are Carrefour (T1) and Spinney's (T1), where you can get groceries and fresh produce.
You can also buy some regional delicacies, such as chocolates or dry fruits, to offer as souvenirs to your friends and relatives. Visit Le Clos, The Macallan Boutique, or Dubai Duty-Free to get your hands on the finest wine selection.
Relax at a spa!
There is no harm in getting a massage or that crucial facial at the Dubai airport spas before the long flight if you want to indulge in something novel and opulent. One of the finest things to do while waiting in the queue at Dubai International Airport is to visit a spa.
You can go to Be Relax, which offers a variety of wellness and cosmetic services, in Terminals 1 and 3. Timeless Spa and XpresSpa are more alternatives. Based in Terminal 3, both spas.
Eat delicious foods!
Thanks to the abundance of dining options, you'll find something delicious to eat. Sit back and enjoy a leisurely lunch or visit several locations for a DIY trip worldwide in search of the best food.
There includes food from various famous restaurants that travelers are familiar with already.
Take a shower
After a lengthy flight, taking a shower might be precisely what you need. The cleanliness of the free showers in Terminals 1 and 3 may be in question. Look for airport lounges with integrated shower facilities if you plan to pay for entrance. If you don't want to spend money on a fuller-service package, the Health Club located between Terminals 1 and 3 also offers a shower-only package.
Unwind at the Zen Gardens
Take a pleasant respite in the airport's Zen Garden with its fishponds, shrubs, bushes, and palm palms if the glass and chrome of the airport construction become too much for you.
Before proceeding to your boarding gate, locate a bench, sit down, and unwind while listening to the sound of trickling water. If you're going to board a long journey or have a little layover in Dubai and need to relax, we especially advise doing this!
Fun things at other airports
Airports worldwide can have many more activities for you to uncover. For instance, San Francisco International Airport is famous for having its therapy pig. Munich Airport is known for its on-site brewery. Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Also, it is famous for an art exhibition called A Walk Through Atlanta History. So, you can see all the beautiful details while walking between Terminals B and C. Like most, Atlanta Airport Wi-Fi is also available for free to all guests. Feel free to share pictures of the art exhibition!
If you are still looking for a treat, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport still has something up its sleeve. You need to walk by Concourse D and find High Wire. You will see a curious magic trick no matter how you look at it!
