- CNN Business Arabic delivers global economic, business and finance news and analysis to millions of Arabic speakers across the globe
Dubai, 15 January 2023: CNN Business Arabic (CNNBA) has officially launched today. The dedicated digital business platform is set to be the go-to source of business and economic news, facts and analysis in Arabic, covering areas of interest to the world’s Arabic speakers. The new media outlet covers a wide range of sectors including sustainability, green investment, cryptocurrency, Web 3.0, real estate, energy, technology and more. CNNBA is available online at CNNBusinessArabic.com and on leading social media platforms.
CNN Business Arabic is operated by International Media Investments (IMI) in partnership with CNN International Commercial (CNNIC), combining regional and digital knowledge within IMI and the brand recognition and newsgathering capabilities of CNN. The platform will abide by IMI and CNN’s editorial standards for accuracy and fairness, and leverage the in-depth economic and market knowledge of its journalists.
The launch coincides with the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, held under the theme “Co-operation in a fragmented world”. At the heart of the first week’s programming will be a nine-part multimedia series addressing major global themes, including the interconnected crisis of climate, food and energy, the risk of a global recession and the digital future. The series includes high-level interviews, explainers and interactive infographics.
In addition to its 24/7 news desk, providing breaking news about key markets and sectors, CNN Business Arabic offers engaging and insightful video programs and podcasts. Aimed not only at business-savvy audiences, it will give the general public access to content that unpacks and explains news in a clear and digestible way. Regular programming will include daily shows such as ‘Stock of the Day’, weekly programs such as ‘Decisionmakers’ which will be bringing exclusive interviews with business leaders, and monthly programs such as ‘TechnoIktissad’ and ‘10X’, providing a deeper dive into the metaverse, start-ups and more.
The editorial team is led by Editor-in-Chief Maher Chmaytelli. As a journalist with more than 25 years of experience, Maher is responsible for overseeing the creation and publication of all news, features and analysis. He is supported by a senior editorial team that has a vast experience from around the MENA region, in addition to having access to newsgathering capabilities and content from across the CNN Worldwide portfolio.
Maher Chmaytelli said: “This is an incredibly exciting moment for us, and we are dedicated to providing high quality content that inspires and empowers Arabic speakers around the world, making CNN Business Arabic the go-to business news platform.”
Phil Nelson, Chief Operating Officer, CNN International Commercial, said: “CNN Business Arabic is a new, complementary offering to both CNN’s business output and our engagement with Arabic speakers worldwide through our existing CNN Arabic platform. We wish IMI every success in this venture, and look forward to working with the team to bring a fresh approach to how Arabic audiences can access business news and information across a range of digital platforms.”
News content will be delivered on the CNN Business Arabic App, website and social media channels, in a number of innovative, visual, data-driven formats. This includes short and sharp video, social and audio content, with a focus on explainers, personal finance, investment and career advice.
