Sharjah, November 13, 2022: Aya-Maria Nehmé, introduced various interior design elements during a fun-filled interactive session titled ‘Better Home Décor’ at the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022.
“By taking this class today you’ll learn how to complete your home project no matter how challenging and overwhelming it becomes. It means that you’re going to conquer your fear, pick up your measuring tape, your scrapbook and start your creative journey, here and now. In fact, you will take the role of an architect and learn how to use mood boards, keeping one objective in mind, your dream home,” said Nehmé.
“Craft your home courageously because in design, mistakes produce happy little accidents and these accidents can actually become the unique touch in your home to help you discover your style and get acquainted with your space. Take accurate measurements and draw a floor plan and then decide on a budget, picking your items based on size, texture and colour. Spice things up with wall and floor finishes, create a mood with lighting and vibe in with the accessories,” she added.
Nehmé went on to elaborate the specialties of different interior decoration styles – Boho, Scandinavian, Japandi, Contemporary, Eclectic, Industrial and Traditional – to the workshop participants.
She said that creating a mood board will help make the tough decisions while decorating a home or an office. “Take pictures of the items and start matching the ideas. If it matches on paper it will match in real life. Also it is important to use the right measurement in proportion to the size of the space,” she said.
Participants were given pictures of furniture, wallpapers and plants to choose from to create their own mood board during the session.
