Statement by His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade
June 18, 2022: His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, said the participation of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the Major Economies Forum yesterday reflected the UAE’s growing role as an influential member of the international community. It underscored the nation’s position as a driver of both the global economy and innovative solutions that can accelerate climate action.
The speech by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at this important global event demonstrated the country's strong commitment to constructive cooperation towards achieving sustainable development. This is underpinned by more than $50 billion of investment in clean energy projects in more than 40 countries to date and a commitment to inject another $50 billion in similar projects over the next decade. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates will host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) in Abu Dhabi next year.
The UAE believes that deeper, more meaningful collaboration in the face of ongoing challenges such as climate change is the only way to ensure the sustainability of global growth. In pursuit of this the country is determined to remain a regional and global gateway for the flow of trade and investment. As an engine of economic growth and prosperity, our role in the world will consolidate the values of peace, stability and cooperation. This will help us and our international partners to achieve sustainable social and economic development, now and for the future.
