Shabab Al Ahli Club honors Union Coop

Union Coop is also the platinum sponsor for the 40th edition of GCC Men’s Basketball Championship held by Gulf Basketball Association, hosted by Shabab Al Ahli Club 18 to 26 June.

Dubai, UAE - June 21, 2021:  Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club honored Union Coop – the largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE for its platinum sponsorship of the 40th edition of GCC Men’s Basketball Championship held by Gulf Basketball Association, hosted by Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club 18 to 26 June. From Union Coop, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Happiness & Marketing Director received the honor from H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Board member of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club, Chairman of the board of directors of the Sports Games Sector at Shabab Alahli Dubai Club, in presence of officials from both sides in a ceremony held in Dubai.

The honoring came on the sidelines of the Union Coop signing a memorandum of understanding with Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club to be the platinum sponsor for the 40th edition of GCC Men’s Basketball Championship, due to its keenness to support the club morally and materially to achieve its desired goals during the tournament and promote the sport of basketball at the state level, the Gulf and the world.

The memorandum was signed by Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department, on behalf of Union Coop, and Dr. Majid Sultan Bin Sulaiman, Executive Director of Sports Games Sector and member of the Board of Directors, in the presence of officials and employees of both parties.
For his part, Al-Marri thanked Union Coop for its contribution and support in this Gulf forum. He stressed that national companies are competing to support and sponsor sports tournaments, and this is evidence of the people of the country standing alongside to make the various events that are held inside UAE successful, and added that the selection of the UAE and its representative Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club to host the tournament is a result of the trust placed by the Basketball Organizing Committee in the Gulf Cooperation Council in UAE government dealing with the Corona pandemic through following the necessary precautionary measures to protect players and the public alike.

In the same context, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki indicated that Union Coop aims, through this sponsorship, to support Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club in their achievements at the level of the Gulf countries in the championship that will be held this month and to reach advanced positions that translate the vision of the wise leadership, in addition to urging all institutions and departments to consolidate the culture of supporting Local sports clubs and instilling it in the hearts of all segments of society.

He also indicated that the agreement, which provides the provision of material and moral support to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club, is considered part of the corporate social responsibilities that Union Coop working to enhance through encouraging the culture of joint work with various institutions, departments and authorities in the country. This is in order to achieve positive results that serve the public interest, as this agreement comes as a regeneration of the Union Coop’s spirit of giving and its influential role within the community, and implementation of the directives of the wise leadership to keep pace with the rapid and advanced developments and transformations that the country is witnessing, to make giving a lifestyle and priority in the strategies of institutions, pointing out that Union Coop believes in the importance of the effective role of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club in providing the appropriate sports environment on a permanent and integrated basis that helps raise the level of youth athletically and culturally. Dr. Al Bastaki thanked Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club for honoring Union Coop and signing a memorandum of understanding, so that each party would reap benefit from such partnerships in community and sports work, and in a way that contributes to translating the two parties’ various endeavors to develop sports and gain advanced positions in the championship and benefit from the exchange of experiences between the two parties.
