Sharjah, UAE, 13 May 2020: Sharjah Holding PJSC — a strategic partnership between
Majid Al Futtaim Properties and Sharjah Asset Management — is providing 450 new electronic learning tablets to underprivileged families across the emirate. The devices will be donated by Al Zahia and distributed by Sharjah Charity International to families in need. Focused on improving access to education across the emirate, the initiative will ensure that Sharjah students, who may not have suitable technology at home, join their peers in distance learning.
The donated devices provide students across Sharjah with uninterrupted access to quality education from their homes and will assist families as schools conduct online home-schooling. Currently contributing AED 5.5 billion to the local economy, Al Zahia is a catalyst for change among the community and an enabler of an enhanced lifestyle among residents. In line with Sharjah’s vision for education, Al Zahia is committed to ensuring that the Sharjah greater community has access to the necessary tools to learn despite current challenges, helping to sustain the emirate’s economic growth and social development.
Shadi Al Azzeh, Al Zahia Projects Head at Majid Al Futtaim, said: “As a community builder, Al Zahia is woven into the emirate’s social and professional fabric. We aim to help the greater Sharjah community grow to its fullest potential by empowering students across the emirate with ample access to quality education. This form of community service has long been a part of our identity, shaping our goals and the services we provide. As such, we are extremely proud of our partnership with Sharjah Charity International and our ongoing efforts to strengthen the communities we serve. By joining forces, we are able to go the extra mile to provide all-important support to those that need it most, equipping vulnerable families in Sharjah with the necessary resources to lead full, productive and independent lives.”
Walid Al Hashimi, CEO, Sharjah Holding, commented: “Community building is a journey of discovery — one which enables us to learn more about ourselves. It opens our eyes so that we can discover the values that are dearest to us and understand the common ground that draw us closer together as a community. This, naturally, leads to growth and socio-economic progression. We are confident that the inspiring partnership between Al Zahia and Sharjah Charity International will help to create a great legacy of collaboration, positive communal living, and, of course, learning; laying down indelible tread marks of growth and change.”
This latest contribution marks another community initiative from the residential community, following Al Zahia’s Ramadan initiative in partnership with Carrefour. The two organisations have committed to distribute two tonnes of essential items to families across Sharjah during the holy month.
