Will the New 2027 Wynn Casino Woo Tourists and Locals Alike?
Last Update: Monday, August 10, 2026 : 19:38 (+4GMT)
The short answer? It probably will. The longer answer is a lot more interesting, because Wynn Al Marjan Island is not just another casino resort. It is shaping up to be one of the biggest tourism stories the UAE has seen in years.
Wynn has already spent or committed just about $3.4 billion from the total budgeted cost of the construction which is $5.1 billion. The construction of the building is going on quite fast. The hotel tower might reach its completion stage very soon, as the expected year of its opening is 2027. However, the company mentions that due to some regional problems this date might be moved.
The uniqueness of this project is that it is expected to be the first legalized casino in the Arab world, which gives it serious advantages.
More Than a Casino
It is evident that Wynn has bigger plans in mind than just having a small hotel-cum-casino. The company’s focus is on luxury experiences, so you can expect not only all the best casino games, tournaments and events, but also fine dining, beaches, and a landmark that will be as famous as the Burj Al Arab is in Dubai,
This is important since a lot of people might not want to actually gamble while visiting Ras Al Khaimah but just enjoy the resort, hotels, restaurants, spas, beach clubs, and the overall uniqueness of being in a property that is making a buzz worldwide.
Tourists Look Like the Easy Win
The tourist case is strong. Ras Al Khaimah has already begun to experience a huge rise in visitors, and the local tourism board is confident that this trend will continue through the rest of the decade. Demand is expected to increase faster than supplies of hotel rooms, which is something resort operators want to hear.
Moreover, UAE is situated in such a way that it is almost eight hours away from practically all continents, paving the way for Wynn to access tourists from Europe, Asia, Middle East and some parts of Africa.
What About Locals?
This is the question that will interest most people. Although thep opulation of the UAE is about 11 million people, it is clear that gambling perceptions are not analogous to those in Las Vegas.
Wynn will probably be surprised to learn that local people may show more interest in other aspects of the resort rather than in gambling. For example, fine dining, weekend trips, music concerts, and beach facilities will probably attract many local people and instead of being considered a gambling establishment, it may be viewed as a leisure destination.
The Wild Card
Earlier in the year, tensions with Iran led to temporary disruptions in the construction site and Wynn reported a slight delay of its original timeline. Still, analysts believe that a mid- to late-2027 opening is doable, even though this serves as a reminder of the fact that this is not a standard resort development.
Interestingly, despite the prevailing tensions in the region, the tourism in Ras Al Khaimah is reportedly doing better than anticipated, which indicates that the demand is stronger than expected.
So, Will It Woo Both Groups?
Tourists? Very likely. The combination of novelty, luxury branding, beaches, and the UAE’s global air links gives Wynn a powerful pitch.
Locals? Probably, though perhaps not in the way people imagine. The resort’s restaurants, entertainment, waterfront setting, and status appeal may end up attracting as much local interest as the casino itself.
If Wynn gets the overall experience right, it could become less of a gambling story and more of a new Gulf Riviera destination that happens to include a casino.
