Since its launch in 2010, the Label has been awarded to 413 organisations by Dubai Chamber
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 11, 2020: Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured 35 companies and organisations with its Dubai Chamber CSR Label for the second half of 2019.
The Chamber organised a ceremony at its headquarters to highlight these companies’ outstanding performance in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR). In total, the Chamber has honoured 413 organisations since the Label was launched in 2010.
Demonstrating their commitment to CSR and benefits they gain from applying for the Label, many of the entities honoured at the ceremony have received the Dubai Chamber CSR Label before, namely, Qurum Business Group accepted the award for the ninth time, while Emrill Services received it for the eighth time. Accepting the CSR Label for the seventh time were Mashreq Bank, Enova, Information Fort, MAB Facilities Management and Veolia.
Meanwhile, AF Construction, Paramount Computer Systems, and Quick Registration received recognition for the sixth time, whereas Amlak Finance and Dimara International accepted the Label for the fifth time.
ASGC Construction, Dar Al Tawreeq Forfaiting and Factoring Services LLC, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), School Transport Services in Dubai, Tristar, and Wasl Asset Management Group accepted the award for the fourth time, while Future Pipe Industries and the National Bank of Fujairah won for a third time.
Himatrix and HP were awarded their very first CSR Labels during this ceremony.
In recognition of their consistent efforts, Empower Energy Solutions, SummerTown Interiors, TECOM Group, and Zulekha Hospital won the Dubai Chamber Advanced CSR Label for the second time, while Apparel Group, Emirates Gas, and Farnek Services accepted it for the first time.
Dabur International received the Dubai Chamber CSR Label for the ‘Workplace’ and ‘Marketplace’ categories.
In his welcome note at the ceremony, His Excellency Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, congratulated the companies that earned the CSR Label, applauding them for enhancing their reputation in the market and setting an example for other companies. The Dubai Chamber CSR Label is the highest metric for assessing performance and compliance with international standards and best practices in the region, H.E. Al Ghurair noted.
“Since its launch in 2010, 413 Dubai Chamber CSR Labels have been awarded,” H.E. Al Ghurair added. “In 2019, we created four specialised categories, in an effort to recognise a wider range of organisations that are excelling in adopting best CSR practices in line with international standards. They focus on four areas, namely, Workplace, Marketplace, Community, and Environment.”
H.E. praised the Centre for Responsible Business for the role it plays in raising awareness in the business community about corporate social responsibility, adding that the Dubai Chamber CSR Label stands out for being the first advanced programme in the Middle East to support and develop companies’ CSR activities.
Representatives of the companies that received the Label expressed their pride and gratitude for receiving the Dubai Chamber CSR Label, applauding the Centre for Responsible Business for its initiatives and commitment to supporting and developing their activities, and, consequently, enhancing their competitiveness in the market.
By submitting their applications to one of the Label’s new categories, companies can benefit from detailed assessment reports on their workplace and the environmental and social impacts of their activities. This, in turn, allows them to improve their CSR programmes and have their activities assessed by experts in the sector.
The Label serves as an assessment and development tool, enabling companies to implement CSR best practices, and analyse their strategies and regulations in their efforts to curb the effects of their commercial activities on the environment and the community. It can also be used in internal audits to evaluate and develop CSR policies.
Founded in 2004, the Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) is the first institution of its kind in the UAE that plays a leading role in promoting corporate social responsibility. The Centre encourages member companies of the Chamber to adopt responsible business practices, which ultimately enhance their performance and competitiveness.
