Karl Lagerfeld Spring 2020 Women's Collection'

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 05, 2020:   For the Spring 2020 season, Karl Lagerfeld had envisioned a collection that celebrates Bauhaus style — one of his favorite time periods and artistic movements, which is currently observing its 100th anniversary. While Bauhaus was originally characterized by its approach to architecture, the school grew to include various mediums, materials and disciplines: fine art, industrial design, textiles, theater, science, and culture as a whole. KARL LAGERFELD’s Spring collection pays tribute to Bauhaus’ simple yet revolutionary design aesthetic, which returns to the classics in shapes, silhouettes, and colors.

URBAN CYCLE

The collection is complemented by a capsule inspired by road cycling and the gear worn by athletes. High-function, seamless fabrics can be worn as workout clothes or mixed-and-matched into city-chic wardrobes. Accessories include a triangular purse, a flat backpack and a weekender made from reflective silver nylon, plus a pink nylon bumbag and a phone holder. The designs are made with the same techniques that are used to create performance athletic wear.

SQUARE + BLUE

Patterns and typography were an important element of Bauhaus style, and the collection translates this into KARL LAGERFELD logos. The sophisticated yet youthful designs have strong lines and distinct shoulders on coats, blazers, and dresses. Key outerwear styles include a parka with a Bauhaus-inspired poster graphic on its back, and a tan mac coat with a blue jacquard Bauhaus pattern on its bottom half. There is also a graphic jacquard cardigan, a hybrid dress-jacket, and a multicolored pleated skirt that creates an element of surprise as you move.

CIRCLE + RED

The circle element is not interpreted literally, but appears in the details. Statement pieces include a color-block skirt with circular KARL logo wrapped around its hemline; a playful bouclé houndstooth blazer in red, yellow and blue; plus a silk blouse and trousers with photo-printed bouclé patterns. A core palette of black is accented by red and khaki tones, while color-blocking is reflective of Bauhaus fundamentals. There are two double-breasted blazers, crafted from Italian satin crepe, with the “kameo”print of Karl Lagerfeld’s profile; both styles have matching trousers.

TRIANGLE + YELLOW

Bright touches of yellow complete the collection, with accents of white and metallic silver. Summer-ready silk dresses and skirts reflect the triangular influence in their A-line silhouettes. A tailored blazer is made from triacetate fabric on its front and silk georgette on its back, which gives it a lightweight and airy aesthetic. For chillier days, a white lace coat — which is accompanied by a black KARL logo belt — can be layered over a broderie anglaise dress, or a cotton voile dress with customized embroidered KARL fabric on the sleeves. Graphics apply a Bauhaus treatment to KARL LAGERFELD logos, while mixing primary colors and shapes.
 

ACCESSORIES

The accessories collection continues to redefine the quintessential KARL LAGERFELD look. The new K/Studio range features a redesigned K-quilting pattern on a camera bag, hobo, shoulder bag and bum bag silhouettes; they are also available in tweed, plus with pins, charms or studded accents.

To reflect the seasonal theme, there are Bauhaus-inspired bags including a zipped pouch, a shoulder pouch, and wristlet with large triangular and square pouches on an oversized keyring. There is also a statement belted coin purse with three distinct compartments: a red circle, yellow triangle and blue square.

The favorite K/Signature range has two additions to its family. On the new K/ Signature Soft, the “Karl” handwriting has been added through a thick silicone injection. The K/Signature Stitch is crafted from lambskin with chevron stitching on its cover; it is available as a shoulder bag, crossbody or backpack.

The K/Slash is inspired by a triangular shape and cut from waxed leather, with a hidden diagonal zip across its front. It includes a top-handle bag, a clutch with a removable strap, or a crossbody style.

The statement Karl Seven returns with two new silhouettes: a top handle bag and a clutch which doubles as a baguette bag. The style was inspired by Karl’s lucky number and his favorite arrondissement in Paris. The Karl Seven small shoulderbag is also available in leopard print, solid colors, and a seasonal Bauhaus style in red, blue and yellow. Along the bag’s front flap is a decorative chain detail, while the top handle is embossed with “KARL.”

The perfect style for everyday wear, the K/Ikon range returns with three new styles: a shoulderbag, a backpack and a large top handle bag. The silhouette was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic high-collar shirt and tie.
