Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Concludes its Participation in Zayed Sports Tournament

- FBMA introduced three new ladies-only sports tournaments this year, which are Basketball, Handball, and Archery.
Abu Dhabi, UAE - 22 May 2019: Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) concluded its participation with Zayed Sports Tournament, last Friday, 17 May, where it offered engaging sports activities in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The tournament attracted ladies from all over the UAE, where they participated in sports contests, showed a high level of athletic skills, and won valuable prizes.
The tournament saw great engagement from the Emirati ladies community, where ladies participated in various sports activities including FBMA’s new ladies-only sports tournaments organised in collaboration with the Armed Forces Officers Club, which include basketball, handball, and archery. Moreover, FBMA and Women’s Football Committee (WFC) also concluded their football tournament that was held in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
FBMA kicked of its participation in Zayed Sports Tournament with its Basketball tournament, held on Thursday, 9 May at Abu Dhabi Ladies Club. Desert Rose team won the first place, which includes a cash prize of 20,000 AED; PSSA team won the second place with 15,000 AED; and Falcon team won the third place with 10,000 AED.
The Archery tournament then took place on Wednesday, 15 May at Abu Dhabi Cricket Club. The tournament was divided into two categories, the first category for ladies over 15 years old, and the second for ladies under 15 years old.
The winners won cash prizes of a total of 10,000 AED, where the first place winner won 4,000 AED, the second place winner won 3,000 AED, the third place winner won 2,000 AED, and the fourth place winner won 1,000 AED. For the Over 15 Years Old category, Soha Mohamad won the first place with 4,000 AED, Lamiae Al Hamzawi won the second place with 3,000 AED, Veronica Durikova won the third place with 2,000 AED, and Shahad Mustafa won the fourth place with 1,000 AED. Moreover, Maryam Ahmed won the first place for Under 15 Years Old category, Aisha Khamis won the second place, and Reem Mohammed won the third place.
Following the Archery tournament, the Handball tournament was held from Thursday, 16 May to Friday, 17 May at Baniyas Club. In this tournament, Al Nasr A team won the first place and a cash prize of 15,000 AED, Al Jazira team won the second place with 10,000 AED, and Dubai Municipality won the third place with 5,000 AED.
FBMA also concluded its 5th edition of its Football Tournament for ladies (5x5), which took place from Sunday, 12 May until Tuesday, 14 May at Baniyas Club Hall for Sports. Abu Dhabi Sports Council team won the first place and a cash prize of 10,000 AED, ADNOC team won the second place with 7,000 AED, and Madrid team won the third place with 5,000 AED.
FBMA representative, Fatima Al Ameri, said: “We are delighted to see that our participation in Zayed Sports tournament attracted ladies from all over the UAE and displayed a high level of athletic performance. In the Holy Month of Ramadan, we encourage ladies to stay active and be involved in different sports activities; we therefore ensure participating in sports tournaments to give ladies the chance to take part in different types of sports activities.”

FBMA’s successful participation in Zayed Sports Tournament served as a great inspiration for ladies in the Holy Month of Ramadan and, where they had the chance to improve their fitness levels, along with winning valuable prizes. FBMA encourages ladies to keep involved in sports in Ramadan and at all times of the year.
The tournaments where attended by key representatives in the sports industry in the UAE, including FBMA board members Her Excellency Naema Abdulrahman Al Mansouri, Her Excellency Amal Abdul Qadir Al-Afifi, and Dr. Mai Ahmed Al Jaber; HE. Suhail Saeed Al Ameri, member of the board of directors of Baniyas Club; Abdullah Al Kaabi, board member of the Handball League; and Adel Al Hosani, member of the Football Committee.
The first Ramadan Blitz Chess Open is set to take place today on Tuesday, 21 May at Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, for ladies interested in mental challenges.
