Dubai Islamic Bank donates AED 5 Million for Kerala Flood Victims

Dubai, UAE, August 28, 2018: In response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to coordinate urgent relief campaign for the affected victims from Kerala floods, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has donated AED 5 million to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Establishment (MBRCH), in support of the establishment’s efforts to help thousands of flood-affected people in Kerala state in southern India following the catastrophic conditions they are living in from the effects of devastating floods, which is the largest in the century that has so far killed hundreds and resulted in the damage and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their homes. The Establishment upholds a relief program that includes emergency assistance by providing primary food and relief needed items.
This was stated by His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Boumelha, Counsellor of the Ruler of Dubai for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment who said: “The relief efforts of the Establishment are in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership to provide urgent relief to our Indian brothers in the state of Kerala in order to alleviate their suffering, and the UAE's brotherly and humanitarian duty towards its brothers and friends from friendly countries in such difficult circumstances. The Establishment has allocated a budget of AED 2 million to implement emergency relief programs for those affected there.”
Mr. Boumelha added: “The cooperation between the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment and Dubai Islamic Bank has been established for a long time in many charitable projects inside and outside the country. Highlighting that this generous contribution is fully dedicated to the relief of our Indian brothers in Kerala.”
Mr. Boumelha also stated that The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment has played a major role in providing urgent relief to those affected by the Kerala floods since the directives of the wise leadership to provide urgent relief to the Indian brothers in Kerala. He also praised the role played by Dubai Islamic Bank to support charitable efforts provided by Humanitarian and charitable societies in the country. He also stressed at the same time that Dubai Islamic Bank is the Strategic Partner of the Establishment and that this partnership reflects how the Bank's officials put importance to these charitable works and their understanding of the need to support charitable and humanitarian work and relief efforts.
