Dubai, UAE, March 19, 2018: Designed by IKEA and Bea Akerlund, a fashion activist, with items like large glass hats, lip-shaped pillows and 3D-printed hands, OMEDELBAR is a collection that includes everything to display one’s clothing, accessories, and personality. It’s also a limited edition collection, making every product all the more desirable.
Meet Bea Akerlund – Moving between the worlds of film, fashion and music, Bea describes herself as a fashion activist. An influential stylist and costume designer in the industry, having collaborated with the names such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Rihanna, just to name a few. With her signature over-the-top look, Bea has become known for her unique sense of style, which she always manages to marry beautifully with each artist’s personal expression. And since she’s always expanding her portfolio, she’s now been able to marry her creativity with IKEA.
The OMEDELBAR collection captures the essence of Bea’s own personal style; a hybrid between Goth and Hollywood glamour. The products create the feeling of an exclusive bedroom and dressing room, one you’ll want to linger in forever. Bea’s personal mantra “B. who you are” moves like a red thread through the collection, together with her signature stamp, the red lipstick. And let’s not forget about the stripes! All in all, it’s a collection of about 35 products that celebrate individuality and creativity.
OMEDELBAR is all about having fun and not following conventions, and one key ingredient in the design was to play with dimensions. Because who’s to say that a pocket watch has to fit in the palm of your palm when instead it can cover a wall?
