Fortinet Solutions Chosen for End-to-End Network Protection and Simplified Management .
Dubai, UAE, October 16, 2017: Fortinet, the global leader in high-performance cybersecurity solutions, has announced that the Monitoring and Control Centre (MCC) of Abu Dhabi has deployed Fortinet solutions to protect its ‘Falcons Eyes’ project from email spam and malware.
The MCC is predominantly set up to protect citizens and visitors to the Emirate, and to protect public data collected via CCTV footage from across cities. Falcons Eyes is a visionary concept developed to enhance public security and welfare by deploying networked security systems across several entities to optimize the necessary response from detection to action.
- Fortinet provides MCC with a cost effective yet efficient solution to network security and allows for fewer systems administrators
- Fortinet solutions include enterprise firewall, email security platform, WiFi solution to facilitate WiFi requirements and centralized management and logging devices.
- The multi-layered security solutions are utilized to protect MCC IT Infrastructure and data using end-point protection, email and web security solutions.
“As the MCC continues to grow and expand its operations, the amount of data collected is enormous. We are responsible for protecting this data and ensuring its integrity for analysis and case presentation when and where required,” said Khalfan Al Hassani, ICT Director - MCC. “The Fortinet Security Fabric provides us with an integrated and adaptive end-to-end security architecture to protect our entire distributed network through a single management interface.”
The MCC previously relied on several security products from different vendors and encountered a number of challenges in managing the disparate solutions to effectively deal with threats. The architecture and equipment employed by MCC for this grand scale operation utilised Fortinet solutions to increase the effectiveness and integration of security while reducing complexity.
Fortinet was chosen for its leadership position in the Next Generation Firewall space, but most importantly, because it met MCC’s requirement for its provisioning of comprehensive routing function and security features delivered from a single box without compromising the performance for mission critical traffic.
“We found two main advantageous with Fortinet; the value delivered by the products, and the performance of the solutions for multicast traffic. The MCC uses sensitive, high volume, low latency multicast traffic for its operation, and Fortinet was the only vendor to provide such performance with all the security features that we required.” added Mr Al Hassani.
The project was introduced in three phases from the start of the MCC, and is ongoing. With ever-growing new network and security deployments within MCC and its agencies, there will be multiple deployments within MCC Data Centre and remote sites in the future.
“Networks are undergoing dramatic changes, and so are the threat vectors. An infrastructure as critical as a the MCC public monitoring system requires a multi-layered security solution which can scale as operations expand, and defend and protect the network from malware,” said Alain Penel, Regional Vice President- Middle East, at Fortinet. “The Fortinet Security Fabric is built with scalability and actionable awareness to help the MCC protect its networks and remote users across multiple sites.”
