UAE, January 31, 2017 - The Ministry of Health and Prevention has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Monash University of Australia on the sidelines of the Ministry’s participation at Arab Health Exhibition and Congress 2017 being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The agreement will facilitate the establishment of graduate programs for professional development and continuing education in the fields of medicine and health to accelerate the development and career advancement of health care professionals.
H.E. Awad Sagher Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry's Support Services Sector, signed the MoU on behalf of the Ministry, while Dr. Christina Mitchell represented Monash University.
H.E. Al Ketbi emphasized the importance of the agreement particularly in providing training in the field of health management and vocational health education, and establishing postgraduate programs for professionals in the fields of medicine and health. This, he explained, will ensure the development of skilled and competent human resource under the Ministry which will allow it to keep up with leading international health and administrative practices. In turn, this will help raise the standards of health services and ensure the efficiency of medical staff in accordance with the highest international standards and consequently improve the national health index.
H.E. said: "We look forward to strengthening our partnership with international academic institutions to help enhance the medical and technical skills of our human resources according to the highest approved practices. This falls in line with our commitment to cultivate a sustainable and healthy environment. In addition, this also reflects the Ministry’s tireless efforts to provide excellent health care services to the UAE community in accordance with policies and legislation and through effective local and international programs and partnerships.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the Ministry will be advised on the necessary tools and materials for ensuing quality education and enhancing the learning experience – including teaching aids and training methods. The MoU also stipulates further cooperation in the field of Applied Research to conduct analytical studies and evaluate the performance and methods of teaching and training as well as the content of practical and academic training programs, with the aim of developing and modernizing the efficiency of training outputs in enhancing the skills of trainees.
The MoU, which extends for two years and is renewable, also specifies the formation of a joint working committee to help coordinate and review the mechanisms of work. The committee will submit periodic reports to senior management of both parties to help strategize joint actions.
