Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, August 22, 2016: Yas Marina Circuit are delighted to announce that registration is now open for the 2016/17 TRD 86 Cup, which returns to the Circuit for a third year running.
Supported once again by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the TRD 86 Cup is a single-make, sustainable local motor sport initiative introduced by Yas Marina Circuit in 2014 and was created to enable amateur racers to drive in a professional, competitive environment.
This year, the competition promises to be fiercer than ever with amateur and veteran racers going head to head across two categories; Gold and Silver. Those with previous experience can sign up for the ‘Gold’ category, with novices driving in the ‘Silver’ category.
The TRD 86 Cup will officially launch on 2nd September at the UAE’s first Emirates Motorsport Expo at the Dubai Autodrome. As well as being able to sign up for the TRD 86 Cup, visitors to the Motorsport Expo will be able to hear from reigning TRD 86 super champion Karim Al Azhari, visit the Yas Marina Circuit stand and join in with activities on the day including: Rookie workshops, passenger ride experiences and the second-hand car and bike sale!
The TRD 86 Cup will run across six race dates from October until April next year and allows those who have dreamed of professional racing to lead their very own race team in real competition at the world famous home of the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX.
