Launching the SportTech Summit GCC 2016 – Enhancing athlete performance and driving venue ROI

As we all know, globally sport is a multi-billion-dollar business. In the GCC, investors have identified this opportunity and have heavily invested in sporting facilities to capitalise on this commercial opportunity.

Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup. There are already 8 stadiums for the tournament, and 5 new stadiums have been launched.
In Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum revealed the new Dhs3 billion Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid football stadium.
The prize money for the Dubai World Cup Horse racing reaches USD 10 000 000, the biggest in the world.
The global eSports market generated $325 million of revenue in 2015 and is expected to make $463 million in 2016; the global eSports audience in 2015 was 226 million people.
SportTech Summit programme has been put together with the assistance of high-level speakers featuring representatives from Dubai Polo Academy, Al Ahli Football Club Dubai, Dubai pro cycling team, Foster + Partners, NBA Atlanta Hawks, Al Ain Club Investment Company, Leicester City Football Club and APLab.
This event will focus on how the use of technology can enhance sports performance. Technology innovation for venue, sportsmen and spectators may be used to create a connected and enhanced sporting experience. Ensuring spectators receive a comfortable, connected, safe experience, while also guaranteeing commercial deliverables are met, is a challenge that fills the minds of stadium owners and operators the world over.
SportTech Summit 2016 will provide an interactive platform between regional government policy makers, professional and consultants from the international sport industry to discuss, evaluate, learn and support the development of sport industry in the GCC.
