Town Square awards long-term contract for design, construction and supply of cooking gas to Al Dharis SPF

• 750-acre (31 million sq ft) Town Square is anchored by a central square, the size of 16 football fields, as well as new Vida Town Square Dubai hotel and Reel Cinemas cineplex and open-air cinema
• In close proximity to over 2.5 million sq ft of retail with over 600 shops and F&B outlets
• Award of the gas supply contract underlines on-schedule progress of the development to welcome the first residents

Dubai, UAE; March 15, 2016: Town Square, Dubai’s first-of-its-kind smartly designed, stylish, green neighbourhood by Nshama, has awarded Al Dharis SPF, a regional leader in the installation and supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the contract for the design, construction and supply of LPG to the residential units that are currently being constructed as per schedule.

Al Dharis SPF will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the cooking gas supply network as well as the collection of consumption charges. The contract was signed by Fred Durie, Chief Executive Officer of Nshama, and Khamis Khalifa Al Muheiri, Chairman of Al Dharis SPF.

Al Dharis SPF has a track-record of undertaking major projects in the UAE in the design, installation, operations and maintenance of centralised gas systems. Its portfolio includes Souk Al Bahar, Manzil Downtown Dubai, Vida Downtown Dubai and several residential projects in Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina, as well as work on the Dubai International Airport Concourse 3 and several malls, universities and palaces. 

The project work for Town Square will include the supply of cooking gas to over 18,000 apartments and more than 3,000 town houses, and more than 100 buildings including a hotel complex. The total daily requirement is expected to be about 30,000 litres of LPG. The design includes the construction of two underground tanks of 50,000 litre capacity, over 35 km of underground piping, and 24x7 staff on duty for operations and maintenance.

Town Square is located in New Dubai near Al Barsha, in close proximity to Arabian Ranches Golf Course, Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club and Al Maktoum International Airport, near the site for the World Expo 2020. It will feature over 3,000 townhouses and over 18,000 apartments as well as substantial retail, hospitality and commercial space. Town Square has a high land-to-building ratio, with more open spaces for a greener community.
