Jestin Augustine is first Middle East participant to win
Dubai UAE, December 23, 2015: Jestin Augustine, Technical Advisor with Al Tayer Motors, the official importer-dealer for Ferrari in the UAE, has won the ‘Ferrari Technician Challenge 2015’ becoming the first aftersales specialist from the Middle East region to take the global title.
Augustine, who participated in the competition for the first time, placed 1st, with 2nd and 3rd places going to technicians from Switzerland and Spain respectively.
“I got strong support at work and from my family back in India, which greatly encouraged me to concentrate, prepare thoroughly and to do my best. It was very exciting to compete with some of the best technicians in the world and to test my skills alongside them. I am very happy at having won and look forward to guiding my colleagues to participate in future editions,” he said.
The technician challenge this year featured 50 participants from across the world and was held at the Ferrari factory in Maranello over three days. The eventual winner from 10 finalists was decided based on the result of a series of trainings, assessments and practical challenges including driving an F12berlinetta and a 488 GTB on a racing circuit.
“All our technicians are provided training on a regular basis to keep abreast of all the new technologies being introduced in new vehicles as well as the maintenance requirements of older vehicles by Ferrari in addition to ongoing training internally. It forms part of our commitment to provide a world-class vehicle ownership experience to our customers. We are very proud of Augustine’s achievement,” said Boulos Massoud, General Manager Aftersales, Al Tayer Motors.
It is for the second year in a row that Al Tayer Motors had a creditable showing in the annual technician challenge. In 2014, Agnelo Ferreira from Al Tayer Motors placed second in the competition.
Al Tayer Motors Ferrari service facilities are located at Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai as well as Mussafah in Abu Dhabi.
