Victoria International School of Sharjah hosts major Careers Fair with leading institutes

February 10, 2015 – Sharjah, UAE : Victoria International School of Sharjah (VISS) Principal Dean Pyrah believes International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programs are playing a crucial role in helping students gain admission into elite universities in the region and across the world.

Mr Pyrah made the comments at the school's annual Careers Fair, which welcomed the UAE's leading universities for an afternoon of discussion on undergraduate courses and career opportunities. VISS students learnt about admission requirements, as well as details about life on campus, facilities on offer and extracurricular activities at universities.

“IB programs are attracting a lot of interest from universities as they provide a strong curriculum that enriches the experiences of students and develops strong characters with leadership qualities and a global perspective,” Mr Pyrah said.

“Our IB Program has proven to be very successful among the top universities of the UAE and internationally.”

The Careers Fair was organised as part of the school's careers education offering. VISS provides an Australian curriculum, as well as International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The school offers one-on-one guidance and advice as well as workshops all year long to inspire students on their future and potential career paths.

“Careers fair such as the ones hosted at VISS should be encouraged across all schools as they represent a fantastic way for students to find the best and most suitable options for their interest and career aspirations,” said Hanan Abed, representative from New York University Abu Dhabi.  “I have received a great variety of questions from these enthusiastic students, ranging from admission criteria to available courses. I am certain these personalised consultations will help to facilitate this critical, and oftentimes stressful, phase.”

Universities and Colleges at the VISS Careers Fair included the American University of Dubai (AUD), Paris Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, Heriot Watt University, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Canadian University of Dubai (CUD), Emirates Aviation College, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi, Murdoch University, University of Wollongong, American University of Sharjah (AUS), Inner Universe, International Horizons College, Middlesex University, Oxford Aviation Academy and Education Zone.
