The Made in Penang model in collaboration with Zilzar, can be replicated across the Middle East for boosting SMEs and micro-SMEs, commerce, and tourism sectors. People visiting major Middle East cities, off-line and on-line, and purchase local products, financially help the locals entrepreneurs. For example, a prayer rug or bead made in Medina by locals provides a better Halal connection than one made in China. ‘we are committed to local empowerment and enfranchisement by way of e-commerce to assist Muslim countries diversify their GDP and get the SMEs on the 'grid,' our virtual malls, to expand their actual footprint to a digital foot print. We want Islamic finance, via micro-funds, to look at this sector and this target market, as it is about dignity-building financial inclusion.’
He added: “It is truly an honour to be part of this collaboration. Made in Penang is the first collaboration powered by Zilzar, and we strongly believe that this initiative will be the start of a bigger and far reaching in the Muslim world that connects destinations for promoting tourism, jobs and commerce.’
